The Saint Clair Barrique Sauvignon blanc has a pale golden yellow color with notes of gooseberry and pear on the nose which are seamlessly covered with perfumed notes of sandalwood and flint. Luxurious, complex and textured on the palate with layers of roasted pear, nectarine and grapefruit with a hint of vanilla pod. The style and oak aging of this Sauvignon Blanc gives the wine a nice aging potential and the wine will acquire even more complexity, character and character over the years.
This Saint Clair Barrique Sauvignon Blanc comes from carefully selected vines within some of Saint Clair's finest vineyards. In the lower Wairau sub-region of Marlborough, this wine was used. The fruit lingered for a week longer than the fruit for the traditional sauvignon blanc from Saint Clair. Only a very limited number of bottles are made from this Saint Clair Barrique and is a typical terroir driven Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes were pressed, settled briefly and then transferred into lightly toasted French oak barriques.
After fermentation, the wine matured for eleven months on its lees, with regular stirring in the oak barrel. Each barrel was regularly tasted by the winemaking team and only the very best and most interesting barrels were selected for the final blend. Wine analysis: Alcohol 12.5% v/v Residual sugar 2.9g/L Acidity 7g/litre pH 3.33
This is a wonderful gourmet wine was created to complement the food beautifully. The textural palate, clean, luscious flavors and hint of spice in this wine will enhance any culinary experience. Great with fried sole, oysters and mussels.
