2020 Puro Rofe Tilama

Lanzarote is paradise for wine lovers. Old autochthonous vines on lava soils, with Atlantic influences but the majority of the wine was mainly cheap tourist wines. Rayco Fernández, as a distributor based in Gran Canaria, had the same feeling. He decided to do something about it. With a number of like-minded friends, he decided to make real terroir wine on the island. And so it happened and with Puro Rofe extremely beautiful wines have now been made in an extreme landscape. The international wine press is also full of praise for the entire series, all of which score well above 90/100 points.

The Tilama is the most different of all the other Puro Rofes. Firstly because it is a 100% Malvasia Volcanica, but also because the vineyard is more sandy and close to the sea in the Tilama region. This is the saltiest of all the crus. A wine with Atlantic sea injection. The vineyards grow on sandy soils near Tilama, very close to the ocean. Limestone soil mixed with clay of volcanic origin and of course on top: a layer of black puro rofe. Traditionally vinified without unzipping. Elevage of 8 months on 228 and 500 liter barriques.

The Puro Rofe Tilama is light yellow in color. Salty notes in the nose with some waltzes and oxygen. Typical sea nuances, iodine with many mineral and juicy white fruit notes. Nicely balanced and juicy acidity. Accessible with still potential. 94/100 Parker
