In addition to its Riojas, Bodegas y Viñedos Artadi also makes delicious wines in Alicante. In Alicante viticulture already flourished under the Phoenicians, well before our era. Here it is the monastrell grape that strikes the bell. The flagship of the Alicante wine region is undoubtedly this El Sequé. None other than Juan Carlos López de Lacalle (owner/winemaker of bodegas Artadi in Rioja) is the creator of this El Sequé. This is a wine made from Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre. The vines of this wine were planted in 1945. After a very careful selection of vineyards, the Monastrell grapes from the oldest plots are used to produce this great wine with an authentic Mediterranean character. Education of 12 months in French oak barriques, medium toast, partly new, partly 1 to 2 years old.
The color of the El Sequé is an inviting, dark garnet red. Rich aromas of ripe, candied black fruits and mint greet you from the glass. Nice and full of flavor and yet fresh, with ripe tannins and a velvety, fresh and spicy finish in which licorice, wild mint and fennel give the wine a true Mediterranean character. Complex taste with an endless aftertaste. The El Seque is a beauty of a wine with an extremely good price-quality ratio!
