2016 Château La Fontaine de Genin

The Château La Fontaine de Genin is a great wine. A Bordeaux of this level from this price range can be called special. Chateau La Fontaine de Genin has belonged to the same family for 3 generations. M. Benoit Prevot (40 years old) is the grandson of the first owner. He is also cellar master for all of Michel Rolland's own wine, including the world famous Chateau. Fontenil (Fronsac) and Ch. Bon Pasteur (Pomerol).

Château La Fontaine de Genin is located in the village of Sainte Radegonde, in the Entre-deux-Mers region. This area in Bordeaux between the Gironde and the Atlantic Ocean has been on the rise in recent years. due to its location between the 2 'seas' cooling is guaranteed here and with the current global warming, this region also has sufficient cooling during hot periods and this ensures the elegance in wines - something that the bordeaux is famous for, but which is increasingly a challenge is given the warming. The Chateau has a small vineyard of only 5 Ha located on a clayey limestone soil. The Château La Fontaine de Genin is a blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are selected per plot and row, depending on the variety and ripeness, and are then harvested both by hand and by machine, then sorted and completely destemmed. Subsequently, the juice undergoes a traditional fermentation, for a long period of no less than 25 to 35 days on the lees with regular pumping in small stainless steel vats, under temperature control. Then the wine is aged half in cement barrels, half in oak barrels (same as Bon Pasteur) for at least a year before bottling.

The Fontaine de Genin has a beautiful deep color with a bouquet of black fruit in the nose underlined by a touch of vanilla, espresso and meditarene herbs. The wine is fresh, well balanced with good length. This wine is excellent with meat, game and cheese.
