Weingut Paul Achs, located in Gols, Burgenland, on Lake Neusiedl, is part of the Pannobile cooperative. This cooperative was founded in 1994 by nine top wineries in the region with the ambition to present terroir-oriented cuvées at the highest level. The name Pannobile refers to the Pannonian Plain, while "nobile" emphasizes the noble quality and ageing potential.

About the 2013 Paul Achs Pannobile red cuvée

Paul Achs's 2013 Pannobile is a blend of traditional Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, and St. Laurent grapes, sourced from vineyards with sandy, clay, gravel, and volcanic soils on the southern slopes of the Parndorfer Platte. This vintage achieved exceptional fruit ripeness while retaining elegance and acidity, despite a challenging year.

Grapes, harvest and vinification of 2013 Pannobile

The grape varieties are hand-harvested and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures, followed by approximately 21 months of aging in barriques. This process develops the silky texture, complexity, and integration of oak without overpowering it.

In the glass, the wine reveals a deep ruby red color with purple hues. The bouquet opens with concentrated aromas of blackberries, sour cherries, and violets, enriched with cocoa, dark chocolate, and subtle oriental spices.
