Soldera Case Basse is one of the most iconic estates in Montalcino. Gianfranco Soldera built the house into an absolute benchmark for pure, terroir-driven Sangiovese. The estate works with great precision in the vineyard and cellar, with a strong focus on nature, biodiversity, and long aging. Soldera's style is unique within Tuscany: intense but never heavy, with exceptional finesse, freshness, and an almost Burgundian precision. This 2011 from Soldera Case Basse is a pure expression of 100% Sangiovese from Montalcino. At Soldera, everything revolves around origin, detail, and balance. Even in a warmer vintage like 2011, the wine remains true to the house style: refined, layered, and with striking tension.
Origin and style
The Case Basse vineyards are located in the southwest of Montalcino and benefit from altitude, ventilation, and great biodiversity surrounding the estate. This contributes to the aromatic complexity and freshness of the wine. Soldera opts for a classic approach in which the expression of Sangiovese takes center stage, without excessive extraction or oak influence.
The 2011 volume
2011 was a riper and warmer vintage in Tuscany. For many producers, this led to richer and broader wines, but at Soldera, the emphasis remains on precision and tension. As a result, the wine has more openness and early charm than some more classic years, while simultaneously retaining sufficient structure and depth for further development.
Color, smell and taste
Bright ruby red with light garnet reflections. On the nose, a refined and complex profile of red cherries, dried flowers, and orange peel, complemented by spices, earthy notes, and subtle balsamic nuances.
On the palate elegant and layered, with a pure core of red fruit, lively acidity, and fine, elongated tannins. The texture is silky yet precise, with great detail and length. The wine combines ripeness with freshness and finishes with a long, mineral, and refined aftertaste.
Structure and storage potential
As with great wines from Soldera, it is not just about power, but above all about harmony and development over time. The 2011 is already particularly attractive due to its open aromatics, but will gain even further complexity with additional bottle aging. The balance between fruit, acidity, and tannins gives the wine clear aging potential.

The sweetness of fruit is quite extraordinary, behind this there are sinewy tannins that are so balanced with the vibrant zesty mineral core.
