Description
A prodigious Petrus from the magical year 2010. The magic is clearly Petrus and the 2010 will always be an interesting vintage to compare with other legends such as the 2000, 2005, 2008 and 2009. Black fruits mixed with hints of earth, spice and caramel . The Petrus from 2010 is deeply garnet-coloured. On the nose, fragrant earthy concepts give way to a core of preserved plums, baked blueberries, licorice plus pieces of pencil shavings and violets. The palate is full-bodied and nicely balanced with a firm line of exquisitely ripe, fine-grained tannins and a fantastic freshness that enhances the generous fruit, with a very long and very stylish finish. Collectors lucky enough to own a few bottles of this vintage are advised to be patient.
This Petrus also comes directly from the Chateau. We always buy all our wines from the importers or chateaus so that authenticity can be checked and that we know for sure that these wines are always stored in good conditions .

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Petrus opens a little broody, with gentle crushed rocks, cast iron pan and fragrant earth notions giving way to a core plum preserves, baked blueberries, licorice and Black Forest cake plus wafts of pencil shavings, garrigue and violets. Full-bodied, the palate is beautifully poised with a firm line of exquisitely ripe, fine-grained tannins and fantastic freshness bolstering the generous fruit, finishing very long and very, very classy. Collectors fortunate enough to have a few bottles of this vintage are advised to be patient and allow it a further 7-10 years to loosen-up and emerge gloriously from this rock-solid structure.

Château Pétrus is owned by the Moueix family and located in Pomerol (Bordeaux). Château Pétrus produces the most famous Merlot wine in the world! The vineyard covers just 11.5 hectares and is planted with 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc vines, with an average age of 45 years. The soil consists of iron-rich clay.
Château Pétrus: the ultimate icon of Pomerol
Château Pétrus is without a doubt one of the most legendary wine estates in the world. Situated in the heart of the Bordeaux region, on the plateau of Pomerol, this modest estate has been producing exceptional red wines for decades. Although Pétrus does not carry an official classification (Pomerol has no Grand Cru system), the wine is globally regarded as one of the very best, often mentioned in the same breath as the Premier Crus of the Médoc.
The terroir of Château Pétrus
What makes Pétrus so special is its unique terroir. The 11.5-hectare vineyard lies on a rare subsoil of blue clay; a type of soil found almost nowhere else in Bordeaux. This clay retains water exceptionally well, which is crucial in dry years, and gives the wines their remarkable power and refinement. Its location on the highest point of Pomerol also ensures optimal sun exposure and drainage.
Pétrus produces Merlot in its purest form
Pétrus is almost entirely planted with Merlot. This grape thrives on the heavy clay soil and produces wines that are rich, velvety, and powerful. In some vintages, a small percentage of Cabernet Franc is added, but the focus is always on expressing Merlot at its finest. In the glass, this translates into intense aromas of black fruit, truffle, cocoa, and violets, with a sensual texture and an endless finish. The wine can age for decades, gaining in complexity and depth over time.
Meticulous vinification at Château Pétrus
At Château Pétrus, every detail matters. From rigorous selection in the vineyard to slow fermentation and aging in carefully chosen French oak barrels - every step of the winemaking process is aimed at crafting a wine that is both grand and elegant. Only a few thousand cases are produced each year, which adds to its exclusivity.
A wine for collectors and true enthusiasts
Pétrus is more than just a wine. It is a collector’s item, a symbol of prestige, and above all a singular taste experience. Those lucky enough to own a bottle will discover the essence of top Bordeaux, made with dedication, tradition, and a pursuit of perfection. It is a wine that reveals its full potential only in the best vintages, making each release eagerly anticipated.
