The unique clay soil of Petrus, which has the ability to store water reserves well, but also has the ability to drain excess water due to its location at the highest point of the plateau, once again proved to be an ideal place for the melot grape . Mildew had only a very limited influence on the vines here and the warm late summer, helped by some showers in August, did not lead to heat stress here. Perfectly ripe grapes were harvested in peace and quiet between September 11 and 20. The wine is characterized by very pure aromas. Olivier was careful with the extraction, because the grapes had more pulp than usual. The result is a wine with an expressive nose of small, dark and red fruits, floral notes of violets and minerals. The taste is beautifully balanced, with elegant, powdery tannins, with a sweet ripeness, cherry fruit, some cocoa, very pure and lively acidity. Impressive!
