the zuccardi family and the uco valley
Zuccardi Valle de Uco is a family business now run by the third generation. The house has built an international reputation as a pioneer in terroir-driven wines from the Andes. Sebastián Zuccardi’s philosophy is clear: wines must reflect the identity of their origin, with maximum transparency. The winery has been named “Winery of the Year” multiple times and is known for its innovative yet natural approach, in which concrete vats, organic principles, and respect for biodiversity take center stage.
the terroir of gualtallary monasterio
El Camino de Las Flores comes from Finca Las Cerrilladas, located in Gualtallary Monasterio in the Uco Valley. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 1,360 meters, at the foot of the Jaboncillo hills. It enjoys an authentic mountain climate with warm summers, cool nights, and a distinctly dry character. The soils consist of limestone, gravel, and stones covered with a layer of lime, which lends the wines pronounced minerality and tension. The plots border dry streambeds, surrounded by wild vegetation that blooms profusely in the spring. This inspired the name of the wine: El Camino de Las Flores.
the harvest and the style of 2024
The 2024 growing season was characterized by healthy grapes and excellent balance. Although the summer was warm and dry, the wines display the freshness and elegance of a cooler year. The Chardonnay from this vineyard offers aromas of herbs, flowers, and white fruits, with pronounced tension and lively acidity. This makes the 2024 an expressive wine that is both refined and powerful.
vinification and aging
The grapes were harvested by hand and carefully selected. After direct pressing, fermentation followed with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats. The wine underwent no malolactic fermentation and no oak aging. This results in a pure and transparent style, in which the minerality and freshness of the terroir are fully expressed. The wine was bottled without bâtonnage to preserve tension and energy.
color, smell and taste
The 2024 Zuccardi El Camino de Las Flores opens with a refined bouquet of green apple, pear, dried white flowers, chamomile, and fresh herbs. Subtle notes of beeswax and a hint of tropical fruit add extra depth. On the palate, the wine displays a compact density perfectly supported by lively acidity. The structure is slender and precise, with a long, mineral finish that is weightless and intense at the same time. This is a Chardonnay with a pronounced mountain character, elegant and powerful, with a fresh tension that invites further aging.
ratings and aging potential
The Wine Advocate awarded the 2024 95+ points. Matthew Luczy praises the energetic style, the pure expression of terroir, and the impressive balance between density and freshness. He expects the wine to develop even more texture and complexity in the coming years. The aging potential is excellent: the wine can easily mature from 2026 to 2036 and deepen even further in the process. wine food pairings
- Sea bass ceviche with lime and coriander – the fresh acidity of the wine enhances the citrus and spicy notes.
- Grilled langoustines with fennel and orange – the minerality and tension pair perfectly with the delicate sweetness of the shellfish.
- Ravioli with ricotta and lemon butter – the creaminess of the dish is beautifully balanced by the crisp acidity.
- Grilled green asparagus with Parmesan – the spiciness and savory notes complement the fresh and floral accents.
- Cod with beurre blanc and chives – the elegant structure supports the soft texture and rich sauce.
- Aged Comté or Sainte-Maure goat cheese – the nutty and briny notes of the cheese enhance the length and minerality of the wine.

Drawn from a specific parcel within Finca Las Cerriladas in the Monsterio section of Gualtallary, the 2025 El Camino de Las Flores is one of the more impressive white wines in the Zuccardi lineup. A distinctly floral and animated bouquet ceaselessly builds upon itself as it aerates, introducing a beautifully textured palate that is simultaneously fleshy, racy, tense and concentrated. This combination of weight and levity translates through the finish, which lingers persistently with mouthwatering acidity and an unwavering core of stony, mineral textures. This is a remarkable showing for being in such an embryonic state, suggesting it will drink quite well through its first decade.

Aromas of white pears, minerals and touches of white almonds, chopped herbs and limes. Textured, voluminous and generous, with a slightly phenolic touch at the end. Fermented and aged in cement, without malolactic fermentation. Drink now or hold.

From: The Path to Purity: New White Releases from Argentina (Jun 2026)
The 2025 El Camino de las Flores, 100% Chardonnay from Gualtallary and aged in concrete, comes from a parcel bordering native flora. It opens with hazelnut, wild jarilla and heterotheca alongside apple and pear. Appealing. The palate starts with some breadth, then tightens with a chalky texture, gaining energy through salinity and freshness. Long and focused, the 2025's appeal lies in its energy and sense of place rather than weight.

The Zuccardi family came to Argentina from Italy at the end of the 19th century. In the 1950s, Alberto V. Zuccardi, the father of current director José Alberto Zuccardi, started an irrigation company; a good choice, because virtually no agriculture and arable farming can take place in Argentina without irrigation. To prove how well the irrigation company worked, Alberto planted the first vineyards in Maipú in 1963. Ten years later, he purchased a new vineyard site east of Mendoza. His son José Alberto has been in charge of the wine company since 1985. The company has since built up an international reputation. For example, they have been chosen several times as 'The World Best Vineyard' in South America and the wines are rated with the highest scores, with even regular outliers of 100 Parker points.
