Tupungato

The Tupungato sub-region of the Uco Valley is held in high esteem in more ways than one. Uco Valley is all the rage among investors and wine tourists in Mendoza, and Tupungato's very tall vineyards are all the rage in Uco. For a long time, this was mostly centered around Agrelo, which is closer to the city of Mendoza and is the location for most of Mendoza's finest wineries. Conversely, the Uco Valley and Tupungato were laid-back agricultural areas in which connoisseurs as well as famous wine consultants such as Michel Rolland invested.

Uco Valley is the new to-be region. Spectacular wines, both white and red, come from the high altitude vineyards in Tupungato and its four sub-districts. Argentina's hot climate necessitates these lofty vineyards, some of which reach heights of 1400 metres. But the results, obtained from a perfect balance of cool nights and intense sunlight, make it worth the climb.
