2025 Quinta Apolonia Belondrade Magnum

From the same producer as the renowned Belondrade y Lurton. The Apolonia is blended using 30% of its older sibling, the Beldondrade, and 70% of its unwooded Verdejo. This makes this beautiful Verdejo slightly less woody and buttery, and therefore fresher. This is a delightful wine as an aperitif or with fish and shellfish. It has a straw-yellow color, floral aromas with fresh fruit and light oaky notes. The character is exotically fresh, as you would expect from a Verdejo, with a beautiful, soft oaky note that gives the wine power. For this wine, just like with the Ossian Quintaluna, they chose to age the wine longer on its lees ( sur lie ) and the remaining portion longer in oak, adding even more complexity and finesse. This maturation process allows it to mature for several years, and we recommend an ideal drinking window of 2025-2028.

White wines have been produced in the Rueda region for centuries. The grandeur of the buildings, churches, monasteries, and estates of Nava del Rey and Rueda testifies to the enormous wealth of the past. Due to the division of the estates, winemaking became so unprofitable that many vineyards disappeared. Today, the region is experiencing a resurgence. Didier Belondrade and Brigitte Lurton began producing wine in 1994 in Nava del Rey, in the heart of the Denomination. This ancient town is home to a labyrinth of abandoned cellars. The sheer size of these cellars suggests the sheer volume of wine produced here. Within the walls of this ancient town, Belondrade and Lurton have opted for modern winemaking.
