Description
Dumanet wines are the house wines of several Michelin-starred restaurants. Due to the condition of being allowed to carry these wines, we are not allowed to disclose the names of these restaurants, but they are well-known names, and we can certainly understand why people enjoy working with Dumanet wines. The quality is excellent, the price is very attractive, and the style in which the wines are made makes them highly appreciated by almost everyone.
The expansive vineyards lie at the foot of the Séranne and Mont Baudille mountains in the heart of the Languedoc. The grapes thrive in this warm, sunny climate. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation takes place. This process converts the sharp malic acid into a milder lactic acid, making the wine slightly rounder and fuller-bodied. It also imparts a buttery note. This is followed by several months of oak aging, which imparts a vanilla flavor to the wine. After this period, the wine is aged for a total of 10 months in the bottle in the Dumanet cellar before being sold.
In the glass, this Dumanet Chardonnay Grande Reserve has a bright lemon-yellow color with aromas of ripe stone fruit, almonds, vanilla, and butter. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, fresh, and buttery. It has a smooth flavor. Compared to Dumanet's Chardonnay Reserve, this Grande Reserve isn't heavier, but rather a bit more elegant. This is mainly due to the wine's maturation, location, and age of the vineyards. They are older, and the grapes come from a slightly cooler climate, giving them a touch more acidity. This is a very handsome Chardonnay, and it's no wonder it's a popular house wine in top-tier restaurants.
FACT : The label depicts two men cycling, evoking the beautiful bike rides through the vineyards. In the past, the winemaker would cycle through the vineyards with the idea of one day making a top-notch wine. Well, many years later, they've succeeded.
