Description
The Terrazas de Los Andes Chardonnay 2024 is a refined, crisp white wine from Mendoza, Argentina. This elegant Chardonnay, from the cool, high-altitude vineyards of the Andes, combines ripe fruit with vibrant acidity and subtle oak notes. A wine that showcases the Andes at their finest: pure, mineral, and with a perfect balance of ripeness and freshness.
Origin & terroir
The grapes for this Chardonnay come from the Gualtallary and El Peral vineyards in the Uco Valley , at elevations between 1200 and 1500 meters above sea level. The cool nights and strong sunshine ensure slow, balanced ripening, allowing the wine to retain both tropical fruit aromas and a vibrant freshness. The chalky, stony soils contribute to a pronounced minerality and structure.
Vinification & style
- Fermentation: partly in stainless steel and partly in French oak barrels, with partial malolactic fermentation for smoothness.
- Maturation: approximately 8 months “sur lie” in oak barrels for depth and creaminess.
- Style: Lively, mineral and elegant, with a subtle hint of wood and a fresh, long finish.
Tasting note – Terrazas de Los Andes Chardonnay 2024
The nose reveals notes of ripe peach, pineapple, citrus blossom, and toasted hazelnut . The palate is refined and balanced, with crisp acidity that harmonizes perfectly with the creamy mid-palate. Subtle notes of vanilla and brioche complement the ripe fruit, while the finish remains long, mineral, and clean. A Chardonnay with tension, elegance, and depth—typical of the high-altitude terroirs of Mendoza.
Wine and food pairings
- Fish & Seafood: Grilled sea bass, lobster or scallops with butter sauce.
- Poultry: chicken with lemon and tarragon or turkey in creamy sauce.
- Vegetarian: asparagus, mushroom risotto or roasted pumpkin.
- Cheeses: mild cheeses such as young Comté, Emmental or Brie.

Terrazas de los Andes literally means 'terraces of the Andes'. Each grape variety is cultivated at its own perfect altitude in the best Argentine wine regions, Vistalba, Mendoza and Cafayate. Founded in 1959 by Moët & Chandon, Terrazas combines French knowledge with more than 50 years of expertise of the Argentine terroir for wines of optimal quality, consistency and character. The wines have a very pure character and are internationally recognized with consistent 90+ ratings.
Terrazas de los Andes itself is deeply rooted in its original environment, from the land on which the grapes grow to the local community we are a part of. Preserving the delicate ecological balance of nature and contributing to the well-being of the people is a key priority for the House. We are actively looking for alternative methods and techniques to conserve soil, biodiversity and natural resources. Water is scarce in the Mendoza region.
