Since the takeover in 1995 by the Dutch businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma, chateau Giscours with its fantastic terroir is back in full force. The domain measures over 80 hectares of vineyard and produces a very reliable, but above all classic Margaux with a lot of depth. In addition to their famous red wine, they make a very high-quality cabernet sauvignon-driven rosé in a very small edition, namely the Le Rosé X Giscours. This wine saw its first light of day with the 2018 vintage.

Le Rosé x Giscours is a terroir rosé. It impresses with its light colour and delicate aromas of white flowers. This small-scale produced wine will impress at any table, regardless of the season and has become a new signature wine despite its short existence! This Le Rosé X Giscours is a 100% cabernet sauvignon, originating from a plot specifically selected for this rosé. The grapes are harvested early, to preserve freshness and fruity aromas. This beautiful rosé from Giscours has a beautiful very light pink colour with subtle hints of raspberry, strawberry and a touch of herbs in the nose and in the mouth this Rosé has a complex but refreshing flavour profile. Not your average terrace rosé but a serious wine ..... and of course this wine is fantastic on a terrace, but you get what we mean. Gastronomically this is also a great wine - delicious with spicy food such as Thai or Asian food. Also delicious with sushi or vegetable dishes with chicken from the oven.

FACT: The wine is in our conditioned Wine Warehouse and if you come to pick up the wine you will often also receive a nice discount. WINE-FOOD SUGGESTIONS:

Salad with grilled chicken, avocado and mustard dressing
The juiciness of the chicken and the creaminess of the avocado call for a wine with freshness and structure. The slightly spicy dressing is picked up by the subtle spiciness in the rosé, without overpowering it.

Grilled salmon with green asparagus and lemon
The fatty structure of salmon calls for a wine with acidity. The fresh, fruity style of the rosé keeps the dish balanced, while the asparagus and lemon underline the elegance of the wine.

Pasta with grilled vegetables and Parmesan cheese
The grilled flavors of peppers, zucchini and eggplant complement the light red fruit in the wine. The Parmesan adds a savory touch that combines well with the structure of this rosé.

Tuna tartare with sesame and soy sauce
The umami in the tuna and the saltiness of the soy sauce are beautifully carried by the fruity and mineral freshness of the wine. The rosé is powerful enough to support raw fish dishes.

Quiche with spinach, goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes
The creaminess of the goat cheese and the savouriness of the tomato pair well with the fresh acidity and floral aromas of the rosé. The wine keeps the dish light and elegant.

Giscours was in a dubious state when Nicolas Tari acquired it in 1954. Substantial investments followed and quality improved by leaps and bounds. In 1995 Giscours came into the possession of the Dutch grocer (supermarkets to Super de Boer and Edah) Eric Albada Jelgersma, who also invested heavily here, just like at his other Château du Tertre property and further improved the quality through a rigorous replanting and replanting program. The cellars were shed and new equipment was purchased. Today Giscours is again “the grand seigneur” it once was and worthy of a 3rd cru. With 200 ha of which 80 ha of vineyard one of the greatest assets in the Médoc.
