Description

Harken is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, grown under the California sun without GMOs or pesticides. The fruit comes from cool-climate vineyards in Monterey and Clarksburg. This coolness comes from the ocean (with its cold Gulf Stream) that creates the near-permanent fog in San Francisco Bay. Winemaker Adam Popp ferments 100% of their Chardonnay in barrels, which gives it that creamy malolactic goodness you simply can't replicate. For added flavor complexity, Harken ferments and ages in signature fusion barrels, which consist of alternating planks of French and American oak. During aging, the barrels are hand-stirred every two weeks to reintegrate the sediment with the juice and deliver that lush mouthfeel. The Harken Barrel Fermented Chardonnay is a rich, creamy Chardonnay yet still retains a sufficient amount of freshness. A Chardonnay with notes of tropical fruit, brioche, and vanilla. The palate reveals crème brûlée and toasted bread, ripe pears, and a hint of hazelnut. The wine has a long finish and finishes with a refreshing note.
