Description
PLEASE NOTE: Label, packaging or capsule is (slightly) damaged. The damage does not affect the quality - only the appearance and for that reason you can purchase this product strongly reduced.
The Pavillon de Léoville-Poyferré is a great second wine. Soft, silky tannins wrap around a core of dark cherries, plums, mocha, spices and new leather. Hints of blood orange and spice lift the finish nicely. All the characteristics of the Grand Vin are beautifully evident, but in a softer style.
In the heart of the Médoc, Château Léoville Poyferré has always been one of the most prestigious wine estates. Once upon a time, there was a single estate called Léoville, which was famous throughout the region. Over the course of its history, it has come into the possession of various families through heirs and major events. In 1865, the estate came into the hands of the bankers Baron d'Erlanger and Armand Lalande. They had to deal with setbacks, in the form of phylloxera and mildew epidemics. Today, the château belongs to the Cuvelier family. They have invested heavily since the 1980s with extraordinary results. The château is now one of the top estates in Saint-Julien.

Very fine tannins with berries and currants. Fresh flowers. I really like the fine texture to this for a second wine. Pretty is the word.

From: 2022 Bordeaux in Bottle: Living in the Present (Jan 2025)
The 2022 Pavillon de Léoville-Poyferré is bold and explosive in the glass. A heady second wine, Pavillon packs a pretty serious punch. Dark red-toned fruit, gravel, licorice, incense and chocolate show the extroverted side of the vintage. Ripeness is definitely on the pushed side, while the tannins are pretty imposing, especially for a second wine.
