Description
A more than great, and also organic, Riesling from a top winery from the German Pfalz wine region. The well-known region where the most hours of sunshine in Germany are measured each year and the temperature is quite high for German standards. Winery Okononierat Rebholz has the most vineyards along the Haardtrand (part between Pfälzer Wald and Rheinebene) located on the west. However, there are also south-facing vineyards, such as the vineyard side "im Sonnenschein" where this Riesling comes from. This vineyard is located at an altitude between 160 and 225 m and has a gradient of 5 to 20%. "Ganzhorn im Sonnenschein" has a bottom of colorful sandstone. Geologically, the soil is still quite young. It developed about 1 million years ago. The Queich, a small river, has transported huge amounts of gravel from the Pfälzer Wald, which settled along the slopes. This soil consists of sand and sandstone from the colorful sandstone of Pfälzer Wald, loam and gravel. It is a perfect soil for Riesling.
Very typical of a wine from this vineyard side is the smell of hot summer days when the first raindrops fall. The wine has a somewhat salty acidity, a high complexity and an infinite length. Elegant citrus notes on the nose. Powerful mineral and spicy aromas that are so typical of colored sandstone. In addition, it also brings elegant citrus notes to the nose. A complex and elegant wine that, thanks to the consistent and uncompromising style of winemaking, a wine with enormous aging potential. This wine is certified organic.
Very suitable as an aperitif. Excellent combination with dishes with oysters, lobster, sea fish, sole and turbot. Also beautiful with turkey and Bresse chicken with mushrooms, sushi and sashimi.
