Description
The 'Albe' is a tribute to the beautiful wines of this area and is made from grapes from different vineyards. The name refers to the orientation of the vineyards, from southeast to southwest, which means that the vines are awakened three times by the rising sun. The differences in soil and orientation give the wine an enormous complexity and layering. The vineyards for Albe are located at an altitude of between 380 and 480 meters above sea level, with exposures ranging from south-southeast to southwest. Aldo Vajra was one of the first to embrace organic farming in Piemonte in 1971. The vineyards have been maintained in a sustainable and organic way for almost 50 years, with great attention to biodiversity.
The Barolo Albe presents itself with an expressive nose full of aromas of fresh cherries, crushed stones and roses. The wine has a lively and energetic structure, with a generous mouthfeel and a youthful tannin structure, enriched with notes of raspberry and orange peel. The finish is long and textural.

G.D. Vajra is a testament to the harmonious relationship between terroir and the rich legacy of a passionate winemaking family. Situated in the renowned Barolo appellation, this enchanting estate has been crafting exceptional wines for generations, capturing the essence of the land and the profound stories that shaped their journey.
The cornerstone of G.D. Vajra's wine making philosophy lies in the concept of terroir. Every bottle that bears their name is an expression of the unique characteristics of the vineyards and the distinct microclimates that bless the Langhe region. From the ethereal vineyard of Bricco delle Viole to the enchanting slopes of Fossati and Ravera, each parcel of land is meticulously tended, allowing the grapes to mature and develop their individual personalities.
The Vajra family, led by the visionary Aldo Vajra, has been nurturing vineyards and crafting wines since the 1970s. Aldo made his first organic wines at the age of 18 and became one of the first wineries to replant the forgotten grape variety Freisa. He continued to innovate with the plantings of less traditional varieties such as Riesling and Pinot Noir. The Vajra family to this day remain steadfast in their commitment to sustainable practices, seeking to preserve the natural biodiversity of their vineyards for generations to come.
The Vajra family's winemaking journey is a testament to their unwavering love for their heritage. With a blend of tradition and innovation, they have honed their craft over the years, producing wines that carry the spirit of their ancestors. Whether it's the iconic Barolo, the elegant Dolcetto, or the vibrant Barbera, each bottle is a reflection of the Vajra family's deep-rooted passion and dedication.
