2025 G.D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo Claré J.C.

The style of Claré JC wine dates back to antiquity, when Nebbiolo wines were made to be light, fresh, and softer than what we know today. To preserve the liveliness and purity of the fruit character, Claré JC is bottled in its youth. The grapes come from young vines and undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks. A small percentage of these grapes is fermented as whole clusters to give the wine a light structure. During fermentation, much gentler extraction methods are used, and pressing is done at lower pressure. The result is a wine that can be drunk immediately, with notes of sweet cherry, red fruit, and a subtle note of eucalyptus. On the palate, the tannin structure is delicate and balanced by a bright, youthful acidity.

VAJR

Aldo Vajra has always been a bit rebellious. And rightly so, because this trait has led to this beautiful winery with its authentic wines. The Vajra vineyards are located northwest of the town of Barolo and have been organically farmed from the very beginning. The high altitude of the vineyards (the Bricco delle Viole is among the highest vineyards in Piedmont) results in large temperature differences between day and night. The grapes ripen slowly and fully, giving the wines a beautiful finesse and elegance. The relatively cool climate in this area has caused many winemakers to uproot the Dolcetto grape, as this grape requires warmth to develop fully. But the Vajras still produce beautiful rosé and red from this grape. Read more under the tab: Winery
