Description
Few places in the world can claim to have everything a wine lover could possibly desire. Boschendal Estate is one such unique destination. This magnificent winery is located an hour’s drive from Cape Town, in the picturesque Groot Drakenstein Valley, on the outskirts of Franschhoek.
The Shiraz from the 1685 series of Boschendal is without a doubt, together with the Sauvignon and the Chardonnay, one of the most popular wines in the Netherlands. This is certainly not only due to the impressive domain, the beautiful restaurant, the famous picnics for those who have been able to visit this, but certainly also because Boschendal has a style that is, with all due respect, a friend to all, and we mean this very positively. They know how to create a tone, certainly in the 1685 series, with a balance in which everything is just right.
For this 1865 Shiraz the Shiraz grapes have been matured in oak barrels but for a relatively short time so that the fruit remains upright but there is just that nice touch of toasted oak coming through without blowing away the lush black fruit such as blackberry and currant. The 1865 Shuraz has a lush taste in which concentrated mulberries and fleshy plums come into their own, next to the white pepper and spicy wood tones. This Boschendal is a perfect accompaniment to grilled meats, duck, roasted lamb and dishes with rich sauces.

Only a few places in the world can claim to have everything a wine lover desires. Boschendal Estate is such a unique destination. This magnificent winery is located an hour's drive from Cape Town, in the picturesque Groot Drakenstein Valley, on the outskirts of Franschhoek. World famous is the Boschendal picnic and the famous lunch in the atmospheric restaurant. Reasons to visit the pearl of Franschhoek. The runner in our country is the Boschendal 1685 Sauvignon Blanc Grande Cuvée with the equally exciting bottle with the blue capsule.
The range offers many options: from the entry-level wines Boschen Blanc and Lanoy to the Elgin wines. This world-class estate mixes its rich past with new innovations. Each wine is carefully crafted to ensure unique drinking pleasure. It is the attention to detail that makes Boschendal a beloved wine in more than 50 countries.
The winemaking philosophy at Boschendal primarily takes into account the vast natural heritage. The vision is to balance tradition and experience with contemporary innovation to produce classic wines with a measured modern new world attitude that is uniquely Boschendal. The cornerstones of this philosophy are achieved through: producing premium wines where the emphasis is on flavor intensity and mouthfeel using a wood regimen for added intrigue before aging but never overpowering.
