Description
The estate has been in the Michelot family for 6 generations. The estate now covers over 19 hectares, including a number of prestigious 1er cru wines. Michelot deliberately chooses to limit the use of anti-disease treatments on the vines. They prefer a carefully planned ploughing programme to keep the soil healthy. The harvest in the vineyards is done by hand selection of the best grapes. In order to maintain their independence as growers and winemakers, they are also not part of an organised system of organic viticulture. Today, Nicolas Mestre is the winemaker. With his cool hairdo, he looks like a hip Kiwi winemaker. This is no coincidence: he learned the tricks of the trade in Marlborough, among other places. Today, Nicolas produces finer and more mineral wines, with more remontage, less pigeage and batonnage and less new oak (on average 15%). According to them, the wines must evolve with contemporary eating habits with less buttery and fatty dishes.
This Bourgogne Blanc is produced from plots located exclusively in the commune of Meursault, on the border of the Meursault village appellation. The soil is clayey and calcareous and the subsoil consists exclusively of gravel. Entirely vinified in 500L barrels without new oak barrels. We only want fruit!
The vineyard is exposed to the South-East and as is often the case in Burgundy, this is also a small parcel of 3.74 hectares. The Domaine Michelot Bourgogne Côte d'Or is a fresh, crisp wine with the fruit of the Chardonnay. It accompanies refined starters and fish dishes and can also be opened very well as an aperitif! Character is very similar to Meursault Village.

The estate has been owned by the Michelot family for 6 generations. The estate is now more than 19 hectares in size, including a number of prestigious 1er cru wines. Michelot deliberately chooses to limit anti-disease treatments of the vines. They prefer a carefully planned program of plowing to keep the soil healthy. The harvest in the vineyards is done by manual selection of the best grapes.
In order to maintain their independence as growers and winemakers, they are also not part of an organized system of organic viticulture. Today, Nicolas Mestre is the winemaker. With his cool head of hair, he looks like a hip Kiwi winemaker. This is no coincidence: he learned the tricks of the trade in Marlborough, among other places. Today, Nicolas brings finer and more mineral wines, with more reassembly, less pigeage and batonnage and less new oak (15% on average). According to them, the wines should evolve with today's eating habits with less buttery and fatty dishes.
