Château Marquis d'Alesme is a troisième grand cru classé from Margaux. The Çhâteau Marquis d'Alesme is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc which has matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new French oak. Deep purple-black, it jumps out of the glass with vibrant notes of mulberries, black cherries and black currants and with some waltzes a layer of undergrowth, fallen leaves and violets emerges. The medium-bodied palate is lively and refreshing, with fine-grained tannins and red berries finishing savory.
About Marquis d'Alesme
Château Marquis d'Alesme (Becker) is a 3rd Cru Classé and is located in Margaux. With 15 hectares, the estate can be called small, especially compared to other châteaux in the area. Since Nathalie Perrodo has taken the helm, the shorter version of the name has been used and the word 'Becker' has been abandoned.
Château Marquis d'Alesme Becker was acquired in 2006 by Hubert Perrodo, who also owns Château Labégorce. Since then the quality has improved by leaps and bounds. Like Labégorce, Marquis d'Alesme is today run by Hubert Perrodo's daughter, Nathalie Perrodo. Her background, half-Chinese/half-French, is reflected in the winery's architecture. Indeed, in 2015, Marquis d'Alesme underwent a thorough renovation under the direction of Fabien Pedelaborde, who was also responsible for the renovation of Château Soutard in Saint-Émilion.
