The brothers Carlo and Dante Mondavi are the children of renowned winemaker Tim Mondavi and the grandchildren of Robert Mondavi. Making wine is therefore in their genes and the love for wine is passed down from generation to generation. Carlo and Dante founded RAEN winery in 2015 with the goal of producing a world-class Pinot Noir on the western hills of the Sonoma Coast in California (USA). Currently, RAEN makes three Pinot Noirs from three unique locations on the Sonoma Coast.
A Pinot Noir of the highest class! It is not without reason that this wine received 94+ Parker points and 97 points from James Suckling. With the Fort Ross-Seaview, brothers Carlo and Dante Mondavi honor their grandfather Robert Mondavi, who taught them to always strive for perfection. Located on a hill 2 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The wine is their 'Pretty Lady', pure elegance. The Raen Fort-Ross Seaview Home Field is matured in French oak barrels of which 10% new and 90% used French oak barrels.
In the glass, the wine is colored light to medium ruby purple with fresh notes of primary fruit, raspberries and blueberries in the nose with fragrant notes of blossom and rose hips. Medium-bodied, intensely fruity and entangling acidity, powerful on the palate, lively and energetic right through to the long, exciting finish.
This is a meditative wine as far as we are concerned. With every little gulp, another layer emerges and with time in the glass, this pinot continues to surprise. Obviously unsurpassed with dishes with seasoned or grilled meat or poultry. 99/100 Suckling
