Ceretto is one of Barolo's most famous names. Ceretto built its wineries in 1982 in the village of Castiglione Falletto with vineyards in a number of famous crus, such as Brunate and Cannubi. Ceretto was one of the forerunners in making vineyards from crus at the time. Besides being active in Barolo, Ceretto also makes wine in Barbaresco and other areas in the Langhe. The Brunate and Bricco Rocche are the top models and are distributed by Place du Bordeaux. These wines come from the winery in Castiglione Falletto was built in 1982 and was created to vinify grapes that come from the best vineyards of the Barolo denomination. It was expanded in 2000 with the construction of the futuristic glass cube, which offers a perfectly integrated contrast between modern design and the profile of the surrounding hills. Bricco Rocche is home to the vinification and aging of some of the region's most prestigious crus, as well as those of its namesake: Brunate from La Morra, Prapò from Serralunga d'Alba and Cannubi San Lorenzo from Barolo.
The 2019 Barolo Bricco Rocche is fantastic. The aromas are super clear and the layered fruit all melt together in a Barolo of unusual elegance. Dried flowers, spices, tobacco and cedar come to life beautifully in the glass. This powerful Barolo comes from the top year 2019 and here the elegance and power are insanely well integrated.

The 2019 Barolo Bricco Rocche is fabulous, and also one of the best wines I have tasted in more than 20 years of visiting. Soaring aromatics and bright, layered fruit all meld together in a Barolo of uncommon elegance. Dried flowers, spice, tobacco and cedar are all wonderfully alive in the glass. This potent, virile Barolo is simply lights out. Elegance and power are rarely well integrated in a young Barolo. The 2019 is a wine of real breadth and resonance. Superb.

Alessandro Ceretto presented a compelling set of 2020 Barbarescos and 2019 Barolos. These are some of the most impressive wines I have tasted in 20+ years of visiting. The Barbarescos are super-classic wines built on gorgeous aromatic presence and elegant, mid-weight structure. I admire the Barolos for their transparency and expression of place. Harvest occurred between October 3 and 8, placing Ceretto among the earlier pickers in this vintage. The wines spent about 25 days on the skins. Malolactic fermentations were done in neutral French oak where the wines spent about nine months before being racked into Stockinger casks for aging.
