Description
Bodega Tentenublo belongs to the absolute new style of Rioja makers and has made two new wines in 2016. DeLos Corrillos Blanco and Tinto. The Blanco is made from a blend of Calagraño with 10% Viura and Malvasía each. These grapes come from four tiny plots in Viñaspre. The vineyards are all between 40 and 100 years old and they worked with minimal intervention and tillage. The very small vineyards are located in an inhospitable, almost impassable area and therefore can only be worked here manually
Roberto Oliván (Tentenublo Wines) presents this red wine made with viura (60%) and tempranillo (40%) red wine. Very gentle crushing of the grapes Manual pressing of the grapes and the grapes are left with skins in open barrels for 5 days. After that, the further aging takes place in chestnut barrels in which the wine stays for 7 months sur lie (ie on its lees). For example, the Tentenublo Corillos Rock Abo is a sensation of fresh fruit with a beautifully integrated light wood tone and a present minerality. The wine is fresh red in the glass. The taste is long lasting, medium to full bodied, somewhat fat with a nice acidity and fine tannins. This new red Corrillos Rock-Abo is a great complex wine with a nice aftertaste. Only 750 bottles were made of the 2016 - "Truly handcrafted terroir wines"
In some cases, the wines are given a kind of WAX seal instead of a regular capsule. This has no further purpose and has the disadvantage that it hardens fairly quickly and pieces can easily crumble (spontaneously, during transport, etc.). This has no influence on the quality of the wine. We cannot give any further guarantee for this.

There are two new wines with the same name, produced with grapes from the same vineyards that have mixed varieties of both colors, one white and one red. The white 2015 Los Corrillos is a multi-vineyard, multi-grape blend of Calagraño with 10% each Viura and Malvasía Riojana; these grapes are from four plots in Viñaspre ranging from 40 to 100 years of age. The full clusters were foot trodden in a plastic bin; the wine was with the skins for around five days and then it was transferred to a chestnut vat where it finished fermenting and aged for five months, with all the lees and without racking. So this is a mini-orange wine, with some skin-contact character, waxy and leesy aromas intermixed with some pollen and white flowers. The palate shows the roundness of the vintage and some fine tannins, a white to stand to white meat dishes. 928 bottles and eight magnums were filled in March 2016.
I went to Viñaspre to visit some of Roberto Oliván's vineyards to get a better understanding of his wines. He works a myriad of tiny plots with very old vines, some of which are almost dying and many plants are missing, so yields are tiny. Truly handcrafted terroir wines.

One of our latest discoveries in the Rioja is a family business called "TENTENUBLO" (this refers to the ringing of the bells used in the villages of La Rioja to repel hail during the growing season). Oliván Roberto has been appointed on behalf of this winery. Although Oliván is relatively young, it already has a very renowned status as a top oenologist. Olivan does not follow the normal structure but makes modern Rioja's and also from vineyards that are unique. All Tentenublo vineyards are high by Rioja standards (at +600 meters) and have a loamy / marl soil. The sticks have to work hard and a lot is left to nature. The yields are extremely low and the wines surprise every Rioja connoisseur. Although this is a young winery, we predict that this house will belong to the absolute Spanish and International top in the coming years.
