Description
Borgogno is one of the very first and probably the oldest wineries in Piemonte. The Italian winery strongly believes in the classic and traditional philosophy which is its strength; for years the observance of these traditions has been passed on to the next generations. Borgogno owns 13 hectares of vineyards of which 9 are planted with the Nebbiolo grape. The wines are all vinified in a traditional way to produce unique and structured wines. The wines are produced sustainably.
Borgogno has several Cru vineyards at its disposal; Liste, Cannubi and Fossati. These vineyards are spread throughout the area and provide the best and typical Barolo styles. The Liste matures for 4 years in Slovenian oak barrels (6000 liters) after which the wine matures for another 8 months in the bottle. The Baralo Liste has a deep dark red color with violet hues in the glass. In the nose beautiful tones of roses, dried cherries and red berries that evolve into herbs and tobacco. In the mouth an explosion of flowers and red fruit! This is a beautiful full wine with a good balance between tannins and acids and as a top Barolo should be, but anyway this is the Grandcru of Borgogno. Tip: Try the Trio of the Grandcru Barolos (Cannubi, Liste and Fossati) in a beautiful tasting vertically. Great to see what terroir can do.
FACT: The wine is in our conditioned Wine Warehouse and if you come to pick up the wine you will also receive a nice discount. You will see your discount immediately when you choose Pick up in Checkout page. We are almost next to the Rijksweg with plenty of parking. Click here for our address.

The Borgogno 2016 Barolo Liste is thin and fragile with a bouquet that struggles to come into the light. Give the wine extra time to develop and evolve in the glass, and you will eventually discover cassis, wild cherry and crushed flowers. The entire presentation is very minute and fleeting, as this wine shies away from any broad statements or overt intensity. To the palate, the Liste is silky and polished. Give it time to put on volume and spread its wings.

Dried fruit with orange peel and spice on the nose. Full-to medium-bodied with rather firm, austere tannins and a chewy finish. Slightly dry at the end. Needs time to soften. Try after 2024.

From: 2017 Barolo: Here We Go Again… (Feb 2021)
The 2016 Barolo Liste, usually a powerhouse, is decidedly laid back relative to the wines that were made here in the past. Medium in body and translucent in feel, the Liste has plenty to offer. Readers should expect a Liste that is more about finesse than raw power. The 2016 is very nicely done, although it is not especially typical of Liste. Time in the glass brings out attractive hints of spice, iron and wild flowers.
