2018 Fattoi Brunello di Montalcino
Leonardo Fattoi's Brunello is a very respectable wine. The vineyards for this wine are located 350 meters above sea level, on a southern slope. The vines are 15 years old. The harvest of the Sangiovese grapes takes place in the first days of October. The wine is visibly clear, brilliant, an intense ruby red color, with reflections of garnet.
The Brunello di Montalcino Fattoi has a beautiful density and beautiful aromatic notes, where everything is well balanced. As firm as it should be, but also with good freshness. That combination makes for a beautiful wine and that is why the 93+/100 Parker points do not surprise us, in addition, 2015 and 2016 were also wonderful years for Brunello. Dark cherries, blackberries and plums are the main aromas, followed by the added complexity of spices, leather and earthy notes of wild mushrooms and autumn forest. The fruit is soft and juicy, making the wine accessible. The tannins are firm but will melt further over time.
Uncork the bottle at least 2 to 3 hours before serving. It is recommended to decant this wine so that the wine is properly aerated.
The territories of the Italian Fattoi family are located in Montalcino, in the municipality of Siena (Tuscany region). Here the family works with enthusiasm and professionalism on the production of wine and olive oil that have made Montalcino famous all over the world. The company has 70 hectares divided into 9 hectares of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino vineyards and 5 hectares of olive groves, while the rest of the country consists of forests and grain production.
