Leonardo Fattoi's Brunello is a very respectable wine. The vineyards for this wine are located 350m above sea level, on a southern slope. The vines are 15 years old. The harvest of the Sangiovese grapes takes place in the first days of October. The wine is visibly clear, brilliant, an intense ruby red color, with reflections of garnet.
The Brunello di Montalcino Fattoi has a nice density and beautiful aromatic tones where everything is well balanced. So firm as it should be, but also a good freshness. That combination makes for a beautiful wine and therefore the 93+/100 Parker points does not surprise us, but in the end 2015 and 2016 were also beautiful years for Brunello. Dark cherries, blackberries and plums are the primary aromas with added complexity then given by spice, leather and earthy tones of wild mushroom and an autumnal forest. The fruit is soft and juicy, making the wine already accessible. The tannins are firm but will melt even further with time.
Uncork the bottle at least 2 to 3 hours before serving. It is recommended to decant this wine so that the wine is well aerated.
The territories of the Italian Fattoi family are located in Montalcino, in the municipality of Siena (Tuscany region). Here the family works with enthusiasm and professionalism on the production of wine and olive oil that have made Montalcino famous all over the world. The Fattoi winery is located in the southern part of the municipality of Montalcino, in one of the most beautiful valleys and at the junction of the rivers Ombrone and Orcia. The company has 70 hectares divided into 9 hectares of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino vineyards and 5 hectares of olive groves, while the rest of the country consists of forests and grain production.
