Château CAP DE FAUGÈRES from Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux has long been part of Château Faugères. The Cap de Faugères is the little brother of Péby Faugères and Faugères, Château Cap de Faugères, with an area of 20 ha, is located in the pretty town of Sainte-Colombe, in the Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. It benefits from a beautiful clay and limestone terroir in continuity with that of Saint-Emilion, which is worked with equal rigor and passion by the same team. With each vintage, the terroir expresses itself to make wines of immediate pleasure. Vinified by the same team and with the same rigor, the estate's wine benefits from a cellar designed by the architects Jean de Gastines and Patrick Dillon. Behind its monumental door, it offers its 20 stainless steel barrels for the production of wines to be tasted shortly after bottling. The bottles of Cap de Faugères, distributed all over the world, can be enjoyed even at the most prestigious tables, including those of the English royal family who, in 2012, donated the estate's wine on the occasion of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Faugeres is also accompanied by Michel Rolland.
The grapes for the Cap de Faugères come from 20 hectares planted on a clay-limestone slope bordering the slopes of Saint-Emilion. Small yields of about 45 hectoliters per hectare. Certified with the High Environmental Value level 3 label. The wine is a blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Vinification in stainless steel vats to preserve freshness and elegance. The wine ages for 12 to 14 months, 60% in first year oak barrels and 40% in second year barrels. There is no clarification (so deposits can remain in the bottle)
Unlike Péby Faugères and Faugères. is this Cap de Faugères meant to be enjoyed in its younger years. The wine has wonderfully young, crunchy fruit and supple tannins. Medium-bodied red with plums and berries. delicious Soft and refined with beautiful, ripe and creamy tannins. Highly polished. The wine (rightly) receives a very high rating (see the tab: Appendix for an overview) and this is mainly because the price / quality is unprecedentedly good. Jeb Dunnuck (91-93/100) writes: "Always a smoking wine (as well as a hard to beat value) "
