Description
MÁD MOSER is a winery in the Tokaj region of Hungary, founded by the collaboration of Mad Wine and wine expert Lenz M. Moser. The aim is to introduce a new interpretation of dry Furmint wines from this historic wine region to both national and international markets. We have been importers of the wines from Lenz Moser's portfolio for years, such as Chang Yu, New Chapter and the latest addition are now the wines of MA'D Moser.
The team behind this wine are Rita & Lenz, Karoly & genius Gabor (Mad Wine Winery). The common goal is to create a new type of furmint that will put Tokaj on the world map as an iconic player in the non-sweet category – on par with the best Burgundies, Californian Chardonnay, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, German Rieslings and Austrian Grüners. This wine aims at the iconic world of white wines from all over the world.
It all started with Lenz's passion for the region - his father took him there when he was 14. His family had done a lot of business with Hungary for generations. 7 years ago, the love for Tokaj was rekindled when Lenz worked for a while with one of the big players. During this assignment, he was introduced to Rita Takaro, who was born in the region and dedicated her life to the development of the region and have remained friends ever since. Lenz and Rita went on a discovery trip to Tokaj together and decided to start their project from Tokaj. They found a great partner in Karoly Kovacs, owner of the famous Mad Wine in Mád, and Gabor Urban, his excellent winemaker.
The Mad Moser 6 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú is particularly noteworthy as this wine has been aged for a decade and is now at the point of drinking perfection! This extraordinary wine was made by acclaimed winemaker Áts Károly (Karcsi) in his first vintage at GRAND TOKAJ, and many consider it his finest work to date. It is truly a wine from another world.
In collaboration with Karcsi, Rita and Lenz have selected a unique lot of these beautifully matured 6 Puttonyos Aszú, ready to be enjoyed. When tasting, you will unmistakably experience the exceptional character of this wine, which acts as a true ambassador of the absolute top of Tokaj's finest creations.
The wine shows a brilliant, deep golden color with amber reflections, which underlines its maturity and richness. The aroma is enchanting, with a complex bouquet of dried apricots, honeyed citrus zest, orange blossom and subtle hints of exotic spices. Delicate notes of caramelized sugar and dried fruits such as figs and raisins contribute to the opulent and inviting scent.
On the palate, this beautiful botrytic wine offers a harmonious blend of lush sweetness and lively acidity. The first taste is dominated by ripe apricots and honey, perfectly balanced by the freshness of the acidity, which prevents the wine from becoming too heavy. Layers of flavour unfold, with notes of candied orange peel, marmalade and subtle hints of vanilla and baking spices. The texture is luxurious and velvety, with a long, lingering finish that leaves a lasting impression of honeyed sweetness and nuanced fruitiness.
This Tokaji Aszú represents the essence of the Tokaj terroir and is a masterpiece that offers a unique experience for every lover of exceptional dessert wines.

Here’s a stunning example of the great 2013 vintage in Tokaj. Yes, the wine has concentrated candied orange and dried mango character on the lush medium- to full-bodied palate, but it also has extremely elegant acidity that makes this move gracefully over the palate and off into the distance. Lovely candied orange and creme brulee character at the very long and delicately honeyed finish. Drink or hold.

Tokaj is famous for its centuries-old wine history, and Ma’d Moser adds a fresh, modern layer to it.
Ma’d Moser winery in Tokaj
The Ma’d Moser winery is a relatively new name in Tokaj, but its roots run deep. It was born out of the collaboration between the Austrian Moser wine family and the Hungarian Tokaj region. That connection brings together experience, tradition, and new ideas. The village of Mád, where the vineyards are located, has been the beating heart of Tokaj for centuries and breathes wine culture in every corner.
MÁD MOSER was founded through the partnership between Mad Wine and wine expert Lenz M. Moser. The goal is to introduce a new interpretation of dry Furmint wines from this historic wine region to both national and international markets. MÁD MOSER focuses entirely on dry Furmint wines, aiming to surprise and captivate wine lovers worldwide with this fresh style.
History of Ma’d Moser
Tokaj is one of the oldest classified wine regions in the world. As early as the 17th century, Tokaji Aszú was exported to royal courts across Europe. Ma’d Moser builds on that legacy but also looks ahead. The winery was established to combine the unique conditions of Tokaj with a fresh and international outlook. As a result, classic grapes like Furmint and Hárslevelű are given a contemporary stage.
Vineyards and grape varieties
The vineyards of Ma’d Moser surround the village of Mád, where volcanic soils dominate the terroir. This volcanic bedrock gives the wines their signature tension and minerality. Furmint takes the lead: a grape that excels both in dry styles and in sweet Aszú wines. Hárslevelű is also planted, often adding a softer tone to blends. Together they form the recognizable Tokaj profile: freshness, depth, and a long finish.
Climate in Tokaj
The Tokaj region has a mild continental climate. Summers are warm, winters cold. What makes the area truly special are the autumn mists. These fogs, rising from the Bodrog and Tisza rivers, trigger the noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) needed for the famous sweet Tokaji Aszú. For the dry wines, it’s the mix of sun and coolness that counts: ripe grapes that still keep their fresh acidity. That contrast gives the wines their energy.
