Clos Marsalette ligt in het plaatsje Martillac in het centrum van de appellation Pessac-Léognan. Het domein is eigendom van de heer Boutemy van Château Haut-Lagrange in Pessac-Léognan, de heer Sarpoulet en Comte de Neipberg, de man die topwijnen maakt in Saint Emilion op Château Canon la Gaffelière, Château Clos de l'Oratoire en het fameuze Château La Mondotte.
De wijngaard is prachtig gelegen op grindachtige heuvels die eeuwen geleden zijn afgezet door de Garonne. De ondergrond biedt een grote diversiteit en bestaat uit marien sediment uit de tijdperken Mioceen en Plioceen (5 tot 15 miljoen jaar geleden) in de vorm van schelpenzand met een beetje klei, zand en klei. De wijngaard van Clos Marsalette, die een oppervlakte beslaat van 12,30 hectare (voor de rode wijn) plus 1,30 hectare (voor de witte wijn), wordt ook vakkundig onderhouden om een wijn te produceren die de typiciteit van dit Terroir weerspiegelt.
