Description
Pinord is one of the most respected companies in the Penedès region thanks to a tradition that goes back more than 150 years. They have a huge range but we carry the Cava +&+ series and the Lluna series. These are their high-end wines.
The Cava +&+ Brut Selección has been chosen as the best Cava of Spain in the Wines of Spain Award (WS'22) program which consists of a jury of wine producers, journalists, sommeliers and WSET and is led by Tim Atkins (see tab: Attachment). The Pinord +&+ Seleccion Brut Cava NV is a rich but floral 'traditional method' sparkling wine, made from the traditional Catalan grapes of Parellada, Xarel-Lo and Macabeo. It undergoes a long ageing on the lees to increase the intensity of the flavour. The three grape varieties are sorted and fermented separately. The fermentation process is controlled at low temperatures to achieve maximum expression of fruit. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle for two years.
The Brut +&+ from Pinord has a pale straw yellow color in the glass. Deliciously fresh with notes of peaches, grapefruit, baked bread, hazelnuts. Tertiary aromas of freshly baked bread arise from the second fermentation in the bottle, which gives it its own character. The wine is extremely well balanced with beautiful fruit, dry (but not too much), nice acids and a perfect perlage with refined bubbles. This is a great aperitif and delicious with lean cheese, baked river fish, ham, tapas and of course with sushi.

Pinord is one of the most respected companies in the Penedès region thanks to a tradition that goes back more than 150 years. The winery is no small player and today produces almost three million bottles a year. The name of their vineyards inspired the Tetas family to create the name of the company: "Pi del Nord" (Pine Tree of the North). They make wines and cavas (sparkling wines), using traditional methods, inherited from their ancestors. Today, the use of state-of-the-art technology along with an exceptional team of hard-working professionals helps make their wines and cavas famous all over the world.
Today, all of their vineyards have been completely converted to certified organic farming. They are located at Vilafranca del Penedès. The soil types range from clay, limestone to sand and require the vines to be planted at different depths. The Mediterranean climate is mild in winter and summer and the valleys to the south benefit from the little rainfall. Many wines are made from indigenous grape varieties such as Xarel.lo and Macabeo. Naturally, the family continues to innovate and experiment with various wines. That's why Bodegas Pinord pioneered the introduction of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to the region. And because the family loves pioneering so much, they now also have vineyards in other wine regions such as Montsant and Priorat.
