From the same maker as the famous Beldondrade y Lurton. The Apolonia is blended using 30% of its big brother, the Beldondrade, and 70% unoaked Verdejo. This makes this beautiful Verdejo slightly less woody and buttery, and therefore fresher. This is a delightful wine as an aperitif or with fish and shellfish. It has a straw-yellow color, a floral aroma with fresh fruit and light notes of wood. The character is exotically fresh, as you would expect from a Verdejo, with, very beautifully, a soft woody note that gives the wine power. With this wine, just as with the Ossian Quintaluna, the choice was made to age the wine longer on its lees (sur lie) and the remainder longer in wood, in order to impart even more complexity and finesse to the wine. Thanks to this aging process, which can certainly still 'cellar' for a number of years, we recommend an ideal drinking window of 2026-2029.

Fun fact: Clarisa and Apolonia are the names of Didier Belondrade's daughters. In the 'Attachments' tab, you will find the official factsheet for this fine wine. We will automatically send this to you upon ordering this wine. The wine is stored in our climate-controlled Wine Warehouse, and if you come to collect the wine, you will often receive a nice discount. White wines have been produced in the Rueda region for centuries. The grandeur of the buildings, churches, monasteries, and estates of Nava del Rey and Rueda bears witness to the immense wealth of the past. Due to the division of the estates, winemaking became so unprofitable that many vineyards disappeared. Today, the area is experiencing a strong resurgence. Didier Belondrade and Brigitte Lurton began making wine in Nava del Rey in 1994, in the heart of the Denominación. This old town contains a labyrinth of abandoned cellars. The sheer size of these cellars suggests just how much wine was produced here in the past. Within the walls of this old town, Belondrade and Lurton have opted for modern winemaking.

White wines have been made in the Rueda region for centuries. The grandeur of the buildings, churches, monasteries and estates of Nava del Rey and Rueda testify to the enormous wealth in the past. The division of the domains made winemaking so loss-making that many vineyards disappeared. Today the area is very much on the rise again. The size of these cellars suggests how much wine was made here in the past. Within the walls of this old town, Belondrade and Lurton have chosen modern winemaking. The Belondrade is considered by many to be the best white wine in Spain, but the Belondrade Apolonio and the great Quinta Clarisa are also there. Very nice.
