Description
This is unique for the Netherlands and the Erre Punto Tinto is actually only sold in Spain because there is only a small amount of it and the Spaniards love this wine so there is no need for Remirez de Ganuza to export this wine, because they already have too little locally. After much insistence we are allowed to let a few boxes hitch a ride because the Erre Punto is now what you call a real summer red wine and these wines are becoming more and more popular. No heavy, oak-infused red wines but a quality wine that is delicious to drink chilled.
The Erre Punto is a young fresh red wine made by the method of carbonic maceration and traditional fermentation and they use the parts under the shoulders of the bunches that are selected for their Reserve wines. For the top wines Remirez uses only the shoulders of a bunch (these have had the most sun) and the part under (the "tips" of the bunches) of the selected bunches is used for the Erre Punto.
As with the Reserve wines, the Erre Punto Tinto is a blend of 85% Tempranillo, 5% Garnacha and 10% Viura and Malvasía.
For the 2024 edition of Remírez de Ganuza Erre Punto Tinto, the winery not only presents a new vintage, but also a striking new label design that literally gives the wine an artistic character. For this vintage, Remírez de Ganuza has collaborated with Spanish artist Adriana Oliver, known for her minimalist, pop-art-inspired portraits. Her work is characterized by clean lines, a strong graphic feel and a timeless, modern look. This fits perfectly with the philosophy of Erre Punto: a young, expressive and accessible wine with a contemporary style, but with respect for tradition.
The label of this 2024 vintage is therefore not only a label, but also a visual interpretation of character, identity and expression. The bottle thus becomes a “double work of art”: both through the wine in the bottle, and through the work of art on the bottle.
The harvest is entirely manual and the grapes come from vineyards of an average of 60 years. After picking, the grapes are first cooled for 24 hours (4-6 degrees) so that the fruit is preserved. Then a manual selection of grapes takes place on the table and the separation of shoulders and ends takes place.
In the glass this wine is violet purple with an intense nose of floral tones, lilacs, wild berries, blackberry and a bit of strawberry. The taste is fruity, fleshy with a nice acidity and we also taste some currants and a bit of liquorice. This is what the Spaniard likes to drink on a sunny day at the end of the working day and then the wine is served chilled (around 14 degrees). This is wine in its pure form. Fruit, not too heavy and slightly chilled so nice on the terrace, at the BBQ or just to enjoy a nice elegant fruity red wine.
The Remírez de Ganuza Erre Punto Tinto (also written as Erre de Ganuza Tinto ) is a modern Rioja wine that combines elegance and freshness with a clear fruit expression and is an excellent accompaniment to the dishes below.
Roasted chicken with paprika powder and thyme
The spicy spices match the fragrant and slightly spicy notes of the wine. Chicken is not too heavy in structure, which makes it a good match for the medium body of Erre Punto Tinto.
Meatballs in tomato sauce
The juiciness of the mince and the acidity of the tomato sauce match the fresh acidity and fruity style of the wine. The wine has enough structure to carry the dish without it becoming too heavy.
Pasta with roasted vegetables and Parmesan
The savoury flavour of the cheese and the grilled taste of vegetables such as peppers, courgettes and aubergines combine well with the soft wood influence and ripe fruit aromas of the wine.
Beef burgers with fried onion and mustard
The juicy beef complements the soft tannins and fruitiness of the wine. The sweet onions enhance the ripe red fruit notes, while mustard provides a fresh contrast that complements the acidity of the wine.
Mushroom risotto with rosemary and pecorino
The umami of the mushrooms complements the earthy and spicy accents of the wine beautifully. The creamy texture of the risotto complements the round, elegant structure of Erre Punto.

Grandcruwijnen is the Dutch Importer of the wines of the Top Rioja House: Remirez de Ganuza and we are very proud of this because Remirez de Ganuza belongs to the absolute top of Spain and is also highly appreciated internationally. All their wines score well above the 90 Parker and Penin point mark with the absolute peak for the 2004 Gran Reserva which has received a whopping 100 points.
The owner of this absolute top domain is Fernando Remirez de Ganuza. Obsessed with quality with an ongoing commitment to excellence in his wine, Fernando is the absolute pioneer in Innovation. At Remirez de Ganuza, even the smallest detail in the entire production chain of the wines is looked at and they are constantly optimizing. Fernado's motto is that exceptional quality can only be achieved through strict selection. His knowledge and experience with La Rioja vineyards make him one of the most appreciated winemakers in the region. The vineyards are spread over the villages of Samaniego, Laguardia, Leza and Elciego which are located in the most beautiful part of the Rioja namely the Rioja Alavesa. The bottom of the vineyards have a limestone clay composition with abundance of gravel and small round stones. Remirez de Ganuza only works with very old vines with an average age of 60 years or older. About 90% of the vines are Tempranillo, the rest of the vineyards include Graciano, Viura and Malvasia. The vineyards are 'en gobelet' but with a support on wire so that there is a larger exposure to the sun and better photosynthesis. A unique system that Fernando developed himself.
At the Remirez de Ganuza winery, the grapes undergo a strict selection, which also shows how quality-conscious but also how innovative Fernando is making absolute top wine. All grapes are harvested by hand and the grapes are first "rested" in the cooling chamber for 24 hours. First is separation from the bottom and shoulders of each cluster. Only the “los hombros” or the shoulders (the top part of the bunch of grapes) are used for his Reserva wines (Fincas de Ganuza, Remirez de Ganuza reserva and gran reserva and Trasnocho) because these are the most ripe grapes with the most sun seen.
