Description
The Bourgogne Chardonnay "Elégance" is made from a selection of the best Chardonnays from the Côte Chalonnaise and the
Mâconnais, whose clay-limestone soils express the full richness of the Chardonnay. The result is an authentic wine with impressive finesse.
Immediately after harvest, the Chardonnay grapes are pressed whole bunches in a pneumatic press, followed by 24 hours of static settling at 12°C. The must is then transferred directly to barrels where alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place. Maturation takes place for 10 months in stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels (20% new oak).
The Bourgogne Chardonnay Elégance is a perfect introduction to Burgundy's most prestigious appellations, thanks to a selection of the finest Chardonnays from the Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais. This gives it a powerful, woody note, a guarantee of exceptional quality. With a very charming nose, it releases aromas of citrus and notes of exotic fruit. A delightful glass and, of course, excellent with shellfish, oysters, and seafood.

Coup de ❤️ | sept. 2021

Floral, fresh and energetic nose with lime zest and ripe lemon notes, some toasty undertones. Very refreshing with a lovely concentration and vivid long finish.

Nose is a little subdued, as the wine moves to another level. Palate has fabulous structure with a steely frame and a long fruity finish.

Prosper Maufoux was founded by its name bearer in 1860 in Santenay, in the south of the Côte d'Or, where it remained in the hands of the Maufoux family for almost a century and a half in 1994. In 1860, Prosper Maufoux, a notary by profession, left his office to devote himself to his passion for wine. He founded his own house in Santenay, a Burgundian village in the south of the Côte d'Or, in the heart of the vineyards. His son Cyprien looked beyond the borders and brought Prosper Maufoux wines to the tables of England, the Netherlands, and the United States. He created a culture of openness to the world at home. The takeover in 2010 by Eric Piffaut resulted in significant investments in the winery, which resulted in a huge increase in quality. Prosper Maufoux is currently housed in the Château de Saint-Aubin, where there is plenty of room to guarantee the qualities achieved for the future. Towards the great growth in the south of the Côte de Beaune, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, between Chassagne and Puligny, and the immediate vicinity of Montrachet.
Since 1860, Prosper Maufoux's know-how has been at the service of a wide range of appellations of great wines from the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. Whether by regional appellations or Grand Crus, Prosper Maufoux's requirements for cultivation, grapes, vinification or maturation always tend to bring out the best in each of the terrains. The wines are aged in oak barrels whose age, origin, and toast are carefully combined and adapted to the origin of the grapes and the vintage. They rest for 12 to 18 months in the vaulted cellars; an environment most conducive to development. The care taken at every stage of production is regularly rewarded with numerous medals and awards. The exceptional vineyards of Maison Prosper Maufoux extend into the mythical terroirs of the Côte de Beaune: Saint-Aubin, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. The family domain also extends to the Côte de Nuits, the Côte Châlonnaise and the Mâconnais.
Maison Prosper Maufoux is a typical Burgundian winery with a beautiful series of appellations from this beautiful wine region, the style of which is characterized by the somewhat fuller wines in both the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Prosper Maufoux winery vinifies its great Burgundy wines using a rigorous sustainable viticulture approach, certified HVE 3 (High Environmental Value). The estate works for the biodiversity of species through a strategy of a controlled conservation and economic resource management.
