Kruger Family Wines Winery

Kruger Family Wines is the personal project of JD Kruger, former winemaker at Kanonkop. He works with select vineyards in Stellenbosch and Hemel-en-Aarde, among other locations. The focus is on terroir, low yields, and minimal intervention. Old vines, spontaneous fermentation, and careful oak aging form the foundation. 2024 Kruger Family Wines Pinot Noir Upper Hemel-en-Aarde

Elegant Pinot Noir from the cool Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, with refinement, freshness and clear terroir expression.

Upper Hemel-en-Aarde is one of South Africa's coolest wine regions and is known for its maritime influence and long growing season. This ensures slow ripening, aromatic complexity, and natural acidity. Vinification focuses on preserving finesse, with careful extraction and aging primarily in repurposed barriques to keep the fruit at its core.

The 2024 vintage

The 2024 vintage benefited from stable, temperate conditions during aging. This resulted in bright aromas, refined tannins, and a precise structure. The combination of ripe red fruit and fresh acidity gives the wine tension and length, without being overpowering.

Color, smell and taste

In the glass, the wine displays a bright ruby red color. The nose opens with red fruit notes like cherry and raspberry, complemented by floral notes and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is sleek yet concentrated, with fine tannins and lively acidity that create elegance. The finish is clean, mineral, and refined, with a distinct cool signature.
