Herdade do Sobroso is located in Vidigueira in the Alentejo region. This is one of the oldest wine regions in Portugal. In the beautiful Alentejo, Herdade do Sobroso has a perfect location with its vineyards located on the banks of the Guadiana River and its tributary Rio dos Patos or the river of the ducks. The trademark is therefore the ducks on the labels. It is the perfect setting for ripening the grapes and only a few vineyards have this luxury and this partly explains why this winery can make very fine wines because there is never a water debt. In addition to the fact that there is sufficient water, this region is the only one within the Alentejo that has the influence of the ocean that ensures healthy ripening.

The Blanco from the Cellar Selection (or Branco in Portuguese) is a special white wine from hand-picked Antao Vaz and Albarino (Alvarinho) grapes with a wood maturation of 9 months in French oak barrels of 500 liters. Fresh, elegant, complex and lush with white and tropical fruits and a little nutmeg. The palate is fresh, unctuous and full of flavor with an elegant and very long finish. Due to the subtle character of this wine, sea bream and brill are particularly suitable. The Cellar Selection are among the top wines of Herdade do Sobroso - always only available in very limited quantities.

1. Grilled sea bass with fennel and lemon
The fresh acidity and tropical fruit notes in the wine perfectly support the light saltiness of the fish. Fennel and lemon accentuate the elegant finish of the wine.

2. Tagliatelle with shrimps and lemon cream sauce
The creamy texture of the wine complements the soft sauce well, while the fresh character balances the shellfish.

3. Chicken roll with apricot and sage
The light spiciness of sage and the sweetness of apricot harmonize with the exotic fruit aromas of the wine. The soft mouthfeel matches the juiciness of the chicken.

4. Quiche with goat cheese, zucchini and pine nuts
The lively acids freshen the rich goat's cheese, and the toasted nuttiness of the pine nuts complements the light wood tones of the wine.

5. Ravioli filled with lobster and saffron butter
The full structure of the wine forms an elegant bridge with the creamy mouthfeel of the saffron butter, while the freshness maintains tension throughout.

6. Baked veal tenderloin with cauliflower cream and apple capers
The subtle fruity acids and the use of wood in the wine enhance the mild taste of veal. The cauliflower cream provides texture that matches the wine, while the apple capers provide a fresh touch.
