Description
The Dumanet wines are the house wines in a number of star restaurants. As a condition for being allowed to carry these wines, we are not allowed to give out the names of these restaurants, but these are resounding names and we can actually understand that people like to work with the wines of Dumanet because the quality is very good, the price is very attractive and the style in which the wines are made means that this is appreciated by almost everyone.
The vast vineyards lie at the foot of the Séranne and Mont Baudille in the heart of the Languedoc. The grapes thrive in this warm, sunny climate. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic conversion follows. This converts the sharp malic acid into a milder lactic acid. This makes the wine somewhat rounder and fuller in taste. This conversion also provides a buttery note. This is followed by wood maturation for a number of months. This gives the wine a vanilla flavour. After this period, the bottle matures for a total of 10 months in the bottle in the Dumanet cellar before it can be sold.
In the glass this Dumanet Chardonnay Grande Reserve has a clear lemon yellow color with in the nose tones of ripe stone fruit, almonds, vanilla, butter. In the mouth the wine is full bodied, fresh with a butter. It is soft in taste. compared to the Chardonnay Reserve from Dumanet this Grande Reserve is not heavier but just a bit more elegant and this is mainly due to the upbringing and the location and age of the vineyards. They are older and the grapes come from a somewhat cooler area and this gives the grapes just a bit more acidity. This is a very handsome chardonnay and it is not surprising that this is a popular house wine in the top catering industry.
FACT : The label shows two men cycling, which is a reminder of the beautiful bike rides through the vineyards. In the past, the winemaker would cycle through the vineyards with the idea of one day making a top wine from this, well, that has happened so many years later.
