Description
One of the top producers from Friuli and one of the most famous makers of Italian white is undoubtedly Silvio Jermann. The Jermann family estate is located in the far northeast of Italy in the hilly region of Friuli, near the Slovenian border, in the DOC Collio, and dates back to 1881. Since Silvio, the third generation, took over in 1975, a huge upheaval has taken place. By continuously investing and making optimum use of the sandy and marl soil so suitable for the white grape varieties, he expressed his urge for innovation, with fantastic results. He grew into a worldwide phenomenon. Elegance, depth, richness, structure and minerality characterize his wines, which are served in many star restaurants worldwide. This Pinot Gris (Pinot Grigio) Venezia Giulia wine received a beautiful Suckling rating of 91/100 points!
This Jermann is made from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes ( pinot gris ) and is fermented as a white wine. The wine is aged for 6 months on its lees (sur lie) and then for another 3-4 months in the bottle before going to market. It has an intense straw yellow color; the aroma is intense, full and fruity, with an excellent persistence. The taste is dry, velvety, fragrant and persistent.
Serving suggestions: Pairs well with fish soups, grilled seafood and various dishes based on field mushrooms and porcini mushrooms. This wine is delicious with lasagna pasta with squid ink and crayfish sauce. (Daniele Cernilli)

About Jermann
Jermann is recognized both in Italy and the rest of the world as one of the very best Italian wine producers, especially for white wines. And although the house was founded in 1881 by his ancestors, it was Silvio Jermann who was at the basis of its great success. Silvio was a pioneer, always looking for innovation, to achieve the highest quality. He created his top cuvée Vintage Tunina, which was completely unique for that time, in 1975 and is still considered one of the iconic wines of Italy. Jermann is located in the far northeast of Italy and is bordered by the Dolomites, Slovenia and the Adriatic Sea. The soil here contains a lot of limestone and sandstone. The wines are characterized by elegance, purity, depth, richness, structure and minerality.
