The Pinot Grigio grape variety, also known as Grauburgunder or Pinot Gris, is currently the most widely grown white wine variety in Alto Adige/Friuli. The Mediterranean-influenced areas around Magrè and Salorno predominantly have calcareous soils with a high sand and gravel content, making them perfect for cultivating this grape variety from the noble Pinot family.

Russolo's wines are characterized by a ripeness and digestibility that are appreciated worldwide. This is remarkable, partly due to the diversity of grapes and flavors. Rino Russolo produces wines northeast of Venice in the Friuli plain, known as Grave. The wines are highly sought after (nowadays also in Italy itself, supported by high ratings in the Gambero Rosso), so only a limited quantity is imported to the Netherlands.

The Russolo Ronco Calaj Pinot Grigio is a bright straw yellow with a light golden sheen. The nose offers powerful, vibrant, and distinct aromas of fresh bread, acacia, ripe fruit (peach, melon), and minerals. The wine has a full, rich flavor. Very juicy yet also very fresh and with good acidity.

A wonderful wine to pair with starters of (white) meat or fish and delicious with dishes containing shellfish, sea fish, pâtés and terrines, poultry, white meat and mushrooms.
