Description
Honoro Vera is the new project of the Gil family, who are world famous for their El Nido and Clio wines, but also have very small beautiful domains where the best of the region is brought forward on a very small scale. All these wines are each and every one gems. The name Honoro Vera is a tribute to the Gil family, where Honoro is the name of Miquel Gil's grandfather and Vera of his grandmother.
In 2005, Bodega Ateca, 55 hectares in size, was founded in the village of the same name. The Honoro Vera cuvée is composed of Grenache Noir from a very old gnarled vineyard. The traditional fermentation is followed by a short maturation in French oak barriques (3-5 months). The wine shows a beautiful purple-red colour and develops an expressive aroma in which notes of cassis, blackberry and cherry on alcohol together with dark chocolate and a little mint completely merge. In the mouth there is initially a firm attack, followed by tasty fruit, fresh tannin and spices. The whole ends in a fleshy and balanced finale. In Perswijn the wine has been given the status: Selected and that is not surprising given the unprecedented good price-quality ratio
The Honoro Vera Garnach is a smooth red wine. Delicious as a standalone glass and perfect with rice, pasta (noodles, spaghetti, macaroni), white and blue fish, goat cheese, cold cuts, vegetables, lentil soup and grilled meat.
