Description
Honoro Vera is the new project of the Gil family, which is world famous with its El Nido and Clio wines, but also has very small beautiful domains where the best of the region is brought out on a small scale. All these wines are all gems. The name Honoro Vera is a tribute to the Gil family where Honoro is the name of Miquel Gil's grandfather and Vera of his grandmother
In 2005, Bodega Ateca, covering 55 hectares, was founded in the village of the same name. The Honoro Vera cuvée is composed of Grenache Noir from a very old gnarled vineyard. The traditional fermentation is followed by a short aging in French oak barriques (3-5 months). The wine shows a beautiful purple-red color and develops an expressive aroma in which notes of cassis, blackberry and cherry in alcohol blend together with black chocolate and a little mint. The palate initially has a strong attack, followed by tasty fruit, fresh tannin and spices. The whole ends in a meaty and balanced finale. All this in a nice magnum of 1.5 liters.
In Perswijn 2016 the wine was given the status: Selected and that is not surprising given the unprecedented good price/quality ratio.
The Honoro Vera Garnach is a smooth red wine. Delicious as a standalone glass and perfect with rice, pasta (noodles, spaghetti, macaroni), white and blue fish, goat cheese, meats, vegetables, lentil soup and grilled meat.
