Description
Very tasty, rich Sauvignon Blanc from the New Zealand winery Clos Henri, a special project in Marlborough that was started by the famous Bourgeois wine family from Sancerre, France.
This white Sauvignon Blanc Organic 'Estate' is a pleasant wine with fine hints of citrus fruits and yellow kiwi. The taste of the wine is fresh, balanced and round. Very tasty, beautifully dry, lively with pleasant fine acidity and yet also a kind of mildness and richness. The flavor palette is caressed by a rich, juicy mouthfeel, dominated by exotic fruits, with a pleasant mineral note. This Sauvignon Blanc is intensely fragrant, beautifully open and stimulating, even exotic with pineapple and gooseberries. The color is light straw yellow with a beautiful green hint. The wine has a powerful aftertaste. This wine replaces the Petit Clos Sauvignon Blanc.
The wine works very well as an aperitif, and is also delicious with a terrine of fish with vegetables, salads (for example with goat cheese), and warm vegetable pie.
In French tradition, the entire vineyard is planted in high density. This forces the vines to compete with each other, resulting in highly concentrated grapes and more mineral flavors in the wine. Petit Clos wines come from younger vines that grow in different soil types. The younger Sauvignon vines are located on 3 different soil types. This wine is certified organic. The grapes come from young vines with an average age between 8 and 13 years old. The climate in the Wairau Valley is maritime with warm, sunny days and cool nights. This variety ensures that the grapes retain their crisp freshness. The vines are close together so that they compete with each other for water and nutrients. This struggle produces a higher concentration of flavor. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain its fresh character. The wine is then aged on the lees for three months to make the wine slightly rounder.
