Villa Bucci is located near Montecarotto in the Marche, one of the 'Castelli di Jesi'. Its Verdicchio Villa Bucci has been named the best white wine in Italy by Gambero Rosso on several occasions. The wines excel in beauty and elegance—meaning organic, not excessive in alcohol, low yields; and the Verdicchio wines in particular are very famous, with Bucci being the only one to have received the highest score in Gambero Rosso for its Riserva wines for 10 consecutive years. Incidentally, these wines excel in aging potential. Even wines from 1988 are still incredibly fresh and develop a character all their own through aging.
In the glass, the Villa Bucci Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore has a straw-yellow color. On the nose, it is delightfully pure and elegant with beautiful white fruit like apple, but also some riper yellow fruit, along with distinct floral notes and a light minerality. On the palate, a soft start, a more pronounced minerality, and a slight bitterness, with mild acidity. The concentration effortlessly supports the alcohol content. All in all, a beautiful, complex, and refined Verdicchio from the Godfather of this wine.
