Description
Viñedo Chadwick 2022 – The flagship of the Maipo Valley
Viñedo Chadwick 2022 is an iconic wine from the Alto Maipo. Under the leadership of Eduardo Chadwick, this wine has become a world reference. For the 2022 vintage, a classic blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot was made. The wine matured for 22 months in French barriques, 80% of which are new, which contributes to its elegance and aging potential.
In the glass, the 2022 shows a deep ruby red color. The nose is intense and layered with notes of black cherry, cassis, violets, tobacco and graphite, supported by a touch of dark chocolate and spicy wood tones. The structure is refined and powerful at the same time, with velvety tannins and a fresh acidity that gives balance and tension. The long, precise finish is proof of its top class – a wine that shines now, but can age effortlessly for decades.
James Suckling, Robert Parker and Vinous all awarded the Viñedo Chadwick 2022 a whopping 98 points , an absolute world-class recognition – and yet another milestone for this wine icon, which previously achieved worldwide fame at The Berlin Tasting alongside legends such as Lafite, Margaux and Sassicaia.
Perfect with classic dishes such as tournedos Rossini, venison loin or a truffle risotto with Parmesan. A wine to be silent about – power, elegance and emotion in one glass.

The 2022 Viñedo Chadwick is equal parts composed and commanding, entering with an aromatic intensity that stays under the surface but holds excellent energy and power. The nose is darkly fruited, herbal and wonderfully gravel-laden and toasted, displaying pitch-perfect harmony between all elements. The texture is sumptuous yet graceful, displaying fantastic poise and clarity through its classically structured framing and balance. The finish calls back the nose's multidimensionality, simultaneously achieving a flashy, rugged persistence housed in an exquisite, understated and nuanced package. This is a real work of art that should deliver immense pleasure for two decades. It's a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, aged for 18 months in predominantly barrique with a small portion of foudre.

Vintage: 2022.
Aromas of blackcurrants, crushed stone, bay leaves, graphite, violets and some rust. Full-bodied with layers of velvety tannins that turn to cashmere. Juicy and flavorful. Needs time to open. It’s extremely structured and solid. Best after 2027.

From: The Chilean Coast: Where the Pacific Shapes Vibrant Reds and Whites (Jul 2024)
The 2022 Viñedo Chadwick comprises 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, sourced from the Puente Alto vineyard. Among Chile's iconic wines, Viñedo Chadwick has carved out a unique place for elegance and intensity, and this vintage is a stunning example. Aged for 20 months, with 90% in new French oak barrels and 10% in foudres, this bright purple wine unfolds nuanced aromas of cassis, ash and black pepper, complemented by a deep cedar layer that evolves into subtle floral and spicy hints. Dry, with fine-grained tannins and a juicy flow, its deep flavors lead to a structured and slightly austere mouthfeel—a finessed Bordeaux-oriented red with the plush tannins of Maipo. Beautiful.

Chile deserves the top prize of all 'new' wine countries. Mainly due to the fact that the wines of this country have found a connection with the taste of many wine lovers, wherever in the world, at a record pace. There are of course special reasons for this success. The climate and soil type are ideal here and the classic European grape varieties were already present. Yet it is mainly thanks to the vision of people like Eduardo Chadwick-Errázuriz that these benefits were so quickly translated into resounding success. Exactly 140 years ago, Maximiano Errázuriz planted his vineyard in Panquehue, at the foot of the highest mountain in the Andes chain. The cool fall winds, proximity to the Aconcagua River and annual rainfall of only 25 cm make this an ideal area for wine growing. His great-grandson Eduardo Chadwick-Errázuriz has added a number of plots since 1990; they are planted with the grape varieties that best suit the specific soil and microclimate. As a result, in addition to the classic cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay, the merlot, shiraz and carmenère also benefit from this earthly paradise for wine growing. Viña Errázuriz has since grown to become the absolute top of Chilean wine producers.
