Description
the Millemann winery in Burgundy
Millemann is known as a modern, artisanal producer working with exceptional terroirs in Burgundy. The Millemann brothers combine generations of expertise with a refined, contemporary approach to winemaking. Their philosophy is clear: to create wines that are pure, balanced, and true to their origins, with minimal intervention and maximum precision.
The family works exclusively with carefully selected plots in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Everything is done with respect for nature and an eye for detail, from hand-harvesting to micro-vinification per plot. Millemann's style is characterized by elegance, tension, and a subtle power that gradually reveals what makes great Burgundy so special.
the Latricières-Chambertin vineyard
The Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is located south of Chambertin itself, in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. The name "Latricières" refers to the Old French word for a "bare" or "cool" place, which indicates the unique microclimate of this vineyard. Its location at an altitude of 280 to 320 meters, with an easterly exposure and calcareous, stony soils, produces wines with refinement and mineral tension.
Latricières-Chambertin is known for its understated power and its ability to develop with age. While some Grand Crus from Gevrey-Chambertin excel in intensity, Latricières distinguishes itself through precision, length, and a silky structure. The combination of cool terroir and deep limestone soil produces wines that are both delicate and complex.
millemann latricières-chambertin grand cru 2022
The 2022 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is an exceptional Pinot Noir that translates the purity of the terroir into a wine of great finesse and concentration. The 2022 vintage in Burgundy brought balanced growth with ripe grapes and remarkable freshness—a rare combination resulting in wines with elegance, depth, and immediate charm.
harvest and vinification
The grapes were harvested entirely by hand into small crates and rigorously sorted in the cellar. Approximately 20 to 30 percent of the bunches were vinified whole to create additional complexity and structure. Fermentation took place with natural yeasts in open wooden vats, followed by aging for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, approximately 40 percent of which were new.
Millemann's vinification focuses on balance: no over-extraction, no excessive wood use, but a pure expression of Pinot Noir. The gentle pressing and slow fermentation preserve the fruit and finesse fully.
color, smell and taste
The wine displays a ruby red color with purple hues. The nose opens with aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate, followed by notes of violet, cedar, clove, and a hint of graphite. On the palate, the wine is silky and refined, with a core of juicy red fruit and wonderful mineral tension. The texture is precise, the tannins are ripe and polished, and the acidity lends freshness and length.
The finish is long, subtly spicy, and extremely elegant. The 2022 Latricières-Chambertin combines the delicacy of Chambolle with the structure of Gevrey, demonstrating how precision and depth can go hand in hand.
store and serve
Serve this wine at around 16°C. Young, it's seductive with its pure fruit and silky texture, but it will develop beautifully over the next 15 to 20 years. After a few years of bottle aging, notes of forest floor, truffle, and spice emerge, without losing its freshness.

There is a new producer in Burgundy. Pierre Millemann may be a "rookie" in Burgundy in terms of production, but his roots, knowledge and wines tell a different story...
History of Millemann
Pierre Millemann grew up between Anjou, where his parents lived, and Alsace, where his grandparents lived and where he spent all his holidays. His father and grandfather, both wine lovers and connoisseurs, soon began to pass on their passion.
Pierre began to study in Paris. During his first internship he met René Renou (President of the Institut National des Appellations d'Origine), who quickly became his mentor. Fascinated by the development of wine, Pierre quickly understood that the terroir was the key. That's why he went to work in the vineyards and cellars for a year. First in Germany, then at Château Carbonnieux (Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux) and finally at Charles Heidsieck (Champagne). He returned to university to perfect his knowledge and obtained a diploma in oenology in Champagne and then a national diploma in oenology in Dijon. He then continued to gain experience by holding various positions in different regions in France. It was in the Jura, where he worked as a cellar master, that he met Stephanie, then a sommelier student, who became his wife.
Thanks to their experiences and the very positive results on the estates where they worked together, Pierre and Stéphanie set up their own oenological advisory structure in 2003. In a constant search for new techniques, Pierre completed his education with a master's degree in oenological research in Dijon and began training future oenologists at the University of Burgundy, as a part-time teacher. The family now works with the best estates in Burgundy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and the United States. Their daughter Charlotte recently joined the family business and started training with her father.
Production by Millemann
Pierre has started producing wine since 2017. He made his debut with his Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru, which was immediately well received in the wine world. Given his knowledge, expertise and finesse, it was no wonder that his wines would turn out well. Because it is still a fairly new producer, not much is yet known about its production and vinification methods. We do know that he produces a number of cuvées. Today he makes wines from the most exclusive vineyards in Burgundy. Think of Corton-Charlemagne, Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Corton-Renardes.
