History of Juggernaut Hillside Cabernet and the Hillside Vineyards

Juggernaut Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon is produced by Bogle Wine Company. The grapes are sourced from steep hillside vineyards in top regions such as the Sierra Foothills, Alexander Valley, Lake County, and Livermore Valley. The goal is intense flavor and structure through challenging terroirs with limited yields.

About the 2022 Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon

This 2022 vintage, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, showcases powerful Californian style and enjoys a reputation for consistency and affordability. The wine offers concentrated fruit and elegant power through the combination of ripe grapes and balance.

Grapes, harvest and vinification

The Cabernet Sauvignon is harvested from hillside vineyards with poor soil and limited water supply, resulting in small, concentrated berries. The wine is aged for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels. New barrels provide structure and vanilla notes without being overpowering.

Color, smell and taste

In the glass, it has a deep, almost black color. The aroma offers spicy plum, blackberry, blackcurrant, and nuances of vanilla, violet, and espresso. The palate is full, broad, and juicy with dusty tannins, blackcurrant notes, and a long, spicy finish.

Why order this wine?

The 2022 Juggernaut Cabernet received excellent reviews, including a 93-point rating from the Tasting Panel and a 90-point "Best Buy" rating from Wine Enthusiast. The combination of intense fruitiness, rich texture, supple tannins, and excellent value makes this wine appealing for both spontaneous drinking and cellaring.

The Juggernaut Wine Collection - Over de Leeuw

Powerful, muscular, and imposing… it's no wonder Cabernet Sauvignon is often considered the king of the wine world. For Juggernaut's very first wine, it was therefore only natural to adorn the label with a creature as fierce, characterful, and imposing as what's inside.

The Bogle family has been growing wines since the nineteenth century. It wasn't until around 1968 that the family planted the first vines near Clarksburgh USA. After years of hard work, the Bogle family has more than 1,200 acres of viticulture in California. With the growth of the company, the family established a name within the wine world, both in America and abroad. The main reason for the success is that the family is engaged in the production of wine on a daily basis. The family understands that high quality wines start with excellent grape varieties. They ensure this by working organically with respect for the land and the environment. The story behind the pheasant on the labels of the wines is as follows. The family wanted a label that reflected the region of the vineyards. The family came into contact with the artist Paul Lorenzi, who was sketching the wines one evening. Suddenly a beautiful pheasant sat in the middle of the vineyard. The Bogle wines label was born!

Bogle Vineyards works organically. Bogle is certified by several agencies: California Certified Sustainable Winegrowing, Lodi Rules Certified Green Certificate and the “Sacramento Area Sustainable Business” Certificate.
