Description
Domaine Rémi Jobard and Meursault's signature style
Domaine Rémi Jobard is one of Meursault's stylistic pioneers. The estate is known for wines distinguished by precision, clarity, and a remarkably restrained use of oak. Jobard cultivates organically and produces wines that express the terroir with clarity and transparency. Under the Winery tab, you'll find more background information about the estate and the philosophy that has shaped this classic, pure style.
Meursault En Luraule is a village vineyard regularly cited by sommeliers as one of the finest lieux-dits in the village. Its location directly below the Premier Cru Les Charmes gives the wine a certain breadth, while the chalky soil creates tension and elegance. In Jobard's hands, this plot develops a remarkable aromatic finesse.
The terroir of En Luraule
Luraule lies south of the village of Meursault, on a gently sloping site with limestone and fine clay. The soil is well-draining and warms quickly, allowing the grapes to ripen early and develop rich, expressive aromas. At the same time, the mineral subsoil gives the wine tension, creating an attractive balance.
This terroir is known for its floral notes and refined citrus structure. The combination of ripe stone fruit and mineral precision makes En Luraule one of Meursault's most elegant village wines, with a subtlety approaching Premier Cru level.
The 2022 harvest year in Meursault
The 2022 vintage was characterized by heat and dryness, but also by cool nights that preserved the acidity. The grapes reached perfect ripeness without being overdone, resulting in wines that are both aromatically rich and refined. For Meursault, this meant a year in which fruit, tension, and texture unite in a remarkably harmonious way.
And in 2022, Luraule benefited from its well-drained soil, giving the wine a beautiful natural concentration. The freshness of the terroir perfectly balances this intensity. The result is an energetic, refined Meursault with an open aromatic profile.
Vinification and maturation by Rémi Jobard
Jobard's vinification process focuses entirely on purity and detail. The Chardonnay is pressed slowly and carefully, after which fermentation takes place with natural yeasts in large oak foudres. The use of these larger barrels preserves the subtle wood influence and enhances the aromatic precision.
The wine is aged for approximately fifteen months on the lees, with minimal bâtonnage. This creates a subtle creaminess while preserving tension and minerality. The combination of soft texture and lively structure makes this En Luraule a particularly expressive wine.
Color, smell and taste of the 2022 Meursault En Luraule
The wine displays a bright, light gold color with vibrant green nuances. The aroma opens with yellow apple, pear, and citrus, followed by blossom, almond, and a subtle hint of wet stone. The wine has an elegant floral expression typical of this plot.
The palate immediately reveals its precision. The attack is lively and tight, after which a delicate creaminess builds without becoming heavy. Citrus fruit, white peach, and subtle spice combine in a beautifully layered mid-palate. The mineral tension provides structure and ensures a remarkably long and clean finish.
The finish is elegant, chalky, and fresh, with notes of lemon peel, hazelnut, and a soft salty note. The wine showcases Jobard's mastery of balancing texture, tension, and aromatic finesse.

End of January 2019, The Wine Advocate
Aromas of green and yellow orchard fruit mingle with suggestions of waxy citrus rind, introducing the 2017 Meursault Sous la Velle, a medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural wine with good concentration, tangy acids and a chalky finish. This is always the most approachable of Jobard's lieux-dits and the 2017 won't be an exception to the rule.
A softly spoken-perfectionist, Rémi Jobard produces beautifully pure and vibrant expressions of Meursault that merit considerable interest; so I was a little perplexed when he informed me, during my December visit, that I was as yet the only critic to taste his 2017 collection. As readers may know, Jobard took over from his father Charles in 1996. No fertilizers have been used since 1994, and the domaine was certified organic in 2008. All its vines are cordon pruned, promoting smaller yields and smaller berries. And since taking the helm, Jobard's style has evolved step by step: today, the wines see two winters on the lees, and élevage is largely in Stockinger foudres. The result is a precise, almost minimalist style that produces Meursault of unusual transparency: classy wines that evolve slowly in bottle. 2017 is an excellent vintage at this address, simultaneously tensile but giving in profile, and they come warmly recommended.

Remi Jobard is the dynamic son of Charles Jobard, who has dedicated years to the construction of this small winery of 9 hectares, but with large plots in Meursault. Remi immediately showed his talent with modernly made wines that are mainly pure and mineral, original and not over-concentrated. The domaine has already abolished the use of herbicides and chemicals since 1988 and the wines are fully certified organic, so that the terroirs with their beautiful limestone hills can be seen to their fullest.
The harvest is carried out by the same team every year, the pickers are experienced and carry out an initial sorting directly in the vineyard. In addition to organic viticulture, as little intervention as possible is made in the vinification, the aging in Stockinger demi-muids, 650 liters of Austrian oak barrels, brings very little wood aromas, but a beautiful structure. These Burgundies often receive high reviews from the press and are a fine reference of the Meursault appellation, with chiseled and pure wines. The premier crus Poruzot and Genevrières, together with the Charmes and Perrières, are among the most perfect terroirs that Meursault has to offer.
