The vineyards are located on ancient terraces that are difficult to reach. The mountainous Priorat has a unique microclimate and the difference between day and night temperatures is enormous. The soil consists of slate, also called llicorella, which provides the typical terroir character in the wine. Production in the area is small-scale and its popularity is still growing. Serras del Priorat is made from Garnacha (55%), Cariñena (20%), Syrah (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). The average age of the sticks is 16 years. The agriculture is certified organic and they follow the biodynamic calendar, but are not certified. The wines are under the care of his daughter, Ann-Josephine Cannan, Silvia Puig and his Rhône friend Alain Graillot. Total production averages 35,000 bottles,
Fermentation in 2500 liter barrels at a controlled temperature. Daily "pigeage". After fermentation, maceration for another 2 weeks, followed by 8 months of aging in 500 liter French oak barrels. The Serras del Priorat from Clos Figueras has a beautiful deep red color. The lush Serras has a powerful, floral bouquet with a hint of iodine and honey. The taste is medium-bodied - beautifully soft and supple and has very good acidity, nice concentration and unexpected elegance. This very beautiful Priorat has very Rhône-like properties.

Clos Figueras winery is located in the center of the town of Gratallops in the Spanish province of Tarragona. Clos Figueras winery has a fantastic 300-year-old underground cellar that creates the perfect conditions for the aging of the wines in French oak barrels.
The Domaine was purchased in 1997 by Christopher Cannan and his wife Charlotte, partly inspired by the famous Rene Barbier (Clos Mogador). The estate is located in the heart of the Priorat, in the village of Gratallops. The bottom consists of slate (or licorella), which is the secret behind the beautiful minerality in the wine. All vineyards are planted on ancient terraces that are difficult to reach. Today Christopher is advised by Alain Graillot (famous from the Rhône Valley) resulting in wines with finesse and elegance. The mountainous Priorat has its own microclimate. Summers are long and very warm. In winter, the mercury can drop to zero degrees. Production in the area is scarce and there is indeed a niche market for Priorat wines, especially the new wines from Gratallops.
