2022 was a warm and concentrated vintage in Margaux, with excellent ripeness. Careful selection and precision in the cellar resulted in wines with both richness and balance. Pavillon Rouge 2022 combines the power of the vintage with the classic elegance that characterizes the château.

Vineyards and grape varieties

The 2022 Pavillon Rouge is composed of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, and 5% Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon provides the backbone, providing structure and refinement, while Merlot adds roundness and depth. Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc provide additional spice and aromatic complexity.

Vinification and maturation

After rigorous selection, the grapes are fermented separately to preserve maximum terroir expression. Maturation takes place in oak barriques, which contributes to the creamy texture and subtle spicy notes. The focus is on balance, integration, and precision.

Color, smell and taste

Deep ruby red in color. Expressive aromas of raspberries, mulberries, and ripe plums on the nose, complemented by notes of licorice, anise, cedarwood, and subtle spices.

The palate is medium to full-bodied, rich, and layered. The concentrated fruit is supported by fine, powdery tannins that provide structure and length. The finish is long, juicy, and harmonious, with a beautiful balance between power and elegance.

This 2022 Pavillon Rouge is offered in a magnum. The larger size allows for slower and more even aging, giving the wine added complexity and refinement. Magnum bottles are often considered the ideal size for cellaring and are particularly popular with collectors.
