2021 Weingut Pfaffl Riesling Reserve Passion

In 1978, Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl became owners of Weingut Pfaffl at a young age in Stetten, a village just north of Vienna in the Weinviertel - Lower Austria region. Before 1978, the Pfaffl farm was dominated by the cultivation of grains, potatoes and the rearing of cows and pigs. A lot has changed in a short time and Pfaffl is currently one of the highest peaks in Austria. Pfaffl was named Best Austrian Producer in 2022 by the Frankfurt International Trophy. Earlier this year they received the same award from Mundus Vini. At Parker (the Wine Advocate) they belong to the highest scoring producer with their entire range.

The Riesling Reserve PASSION is one of the most beautiful Rieslings in Austria. The wine comes from specially selected grapes, harvested late, spontaneously fermented in traditional acacia vats. Eine Hamer Riesling. The Riesling grapes come from the 'Sandlern' vineyard, which is very dry. The vines (29 years old) therefore get their water deep from the loam-sandy soil. The Passion Riesling has an insanely intense scent of rose petals, peach, apricot, also some mango and a hint of grapefruit, so much fruit! Insanely full and complex in the mouth. Very precise acidity, some nectarine, mineral and full fruity, very long finish.
